PBJ:

I came rushing into my family’s kitchen after an unusually long soccer game. I still had on my filthy, grimy uniform. Thankfully, I had taken off and left my reeking cleats, painful shin guards, and sticky socks in the car. I ran straight to the pantry, twisted the door handle, throwing the pantry door open as it hits the wall behind it. When it was open, I extended my arm, grabbing the creamy peanut butter that was sitting on the shelf before me. Then, I stood on my tippy-toes, reaching far past my stature. I grabbed the very end of the white Bunny bread, and it came crashing down on my sweaty head. I slammed the door shut, angrily kicking it shut with my foot. I heard a loud “bang” and I knew I was ready to make my favorite sandwich, simply a peanut butter sandwich.

Setting the two pieces down side by side on my favorite SpongeBob plate, I heard a daunting growl emit from my empty stomach. I swiftly placed my boney hand on the peanut butter’s lid. Then, I twisted the cap to the peanut butter; turning the cap five times. It was, then, finally opened. I stabbed the shiny butter knife into the rich, creamy peanut butter, scooping up a big glob of the messy butter while I did so. I slopped it onto one side of the soft bread, just like the lunch lady at school slops my macaroni on my plate, and spread it equally around the piece of bread, covering the snowy bread a rich tan. Next, I did the exact same routine to the opposing piece of bread, making the two pieces of bread look like identical twins.

Quickly, I selected the best looking slice and flipped it upside down, placing it on the other piece so the edges of the bread line were faced up. I speedily snatched the SpongeBob plate, with the now beautiful sandwich on it, and ran into my living room. I plopped down on the leather sofa, making a resounding, “Boom”. I situated the plate onto my lap, and took both of my hands and eagerly picked the sandwich up. I suddenly shoved a bulging curve of it into my watering mouth. I looked at my dog, sitting to the right of me on the couch, and smiled whilst unfastening my sticky mouth blocked with peanut butter, saying a content, “yum”. Then, all of a sudden I heard a screechy, loud voice come from the kitchen yelling “Meg, come clean up this mess”. I giggled and kept enjoying my delightful peanut butter sandwich, disregarding anything going on around me.

Nonfiction Essay:

To hate is when there is a strong dislike toward something. It is driven by a fear, an emotion, jealousy, or a lack of power. Hate can be a deep feeling of disgust towards something or someone. Since humans have been alive, hatred has been too. It is dark hole of resentment and has been the cause of violent acts. It causes anger, frustration, and hot tempers because of the feelings that it causes. Hatred is a feeling that everyone experiences many times in their lives and will lead to unhappiness. Hate is a strong word, but it will follow you around forever.

It’s another dark, stormy day for the little innocent girl. Her days have been like this every day. She never was in the wrong, but somehow she always turned out to be the wrong. She walks around school with her heavy head faced toward the ugly tiles on the floor. She used to be the tall girl with the confidence, beauty, and a smile that could blind one’s eyes, but now she has lost all of it. The power of hatred overcame her; there was no way of turning back to her normal lifestyle now.

This little girl had a name; it was Maria. Maria was guiltless as could be. She had the inner and outer beauty of a queen and was the nicest girl around. She thought the world was amazing and life couldn’t get any better than it was. She didn’t cause any problems and liked to talk to everyone. Then her outlooks on life changed when a ‘friend’ destroyed her mentally. Now, the girl’s outlook on life was that it was terrible and it needed to end as fast as possible.

Maria had a friend named Nonna. She was the one who changed Maria’s outlook on life and was now the worst friend Maria has ever had. Nonna wasn’t as pretty as Maria, but she did have a lot in her hands and had a nice future ahead of her. But, Nonna was a very jealous girl who started hating Maria for any move she made. She was disgusted by Maria’s looks, her voice, her grades, her boyfriend, and her life. Every time Nonna saw Maria, a dark cloud came in the room, filling it with anger and frustration, but why? Nonna just hated Maria. There was nothing that Maria did for Nonna to hate her, but she did anyways. Because of the abhorrence Nonna had for Maria, she started spreading nasty rumors about her, calling her the most devastating names, making her look like the worst person in their school. Maria now hated Nonna.

Now the anger flew around everywhere. It made dark holes into everything ever shared by the two girls. It puts them into a stage of rage every time they saw each other. It jumped from mind to mind and class to class, but why? It all started with an emotion of jealousy that intended the hate to come upon the girl. Maria heard all the things Nonna was saying about her, lost her temper, and confronted her. It turned out very bad. Maria was through with all the bad things Nonna was saying and doing to her. Both of the girls received a long suspension from school. Maria couldn’t help but just hate Nonna more and more each day. She ruined her reputation and is now ruining her life. These ‘friends’ were supposed to be there for each other and real with each other, but now they can’t be in the same room without fighting and giving disgusting looks. Hatred can be tricky. It can make others fall into the traps of resentment towards others, making situations turn worse than they should be.

Girls will be girls and guys will be guys. Guys hate is more from fear and girls hate is usually from emotion, lack of power, and jealousy. The most common hate for both genders is that they threatened by the unknown so they use hatred to block themselves, making their hate be from fear of the people.

Selected Poem 1

The Dream

Far beyond the earth,

I spread my wings and fly.

There are bright colors surrounding me,

What a sight to see!

Grandpa comes running toward me,

How I miss him so much…

I gave him the biggest hug, remembering all the

Times we shared. I never wanted the moment to be over.

The scenery was beyond beautiful, just like grandpa used to say I was.

But I knew it wouldn’t last long, so i

Treasured the moment all I could.

We talked for hours.

He asked about grandma, but then he flew away.

His wings flapping in the cold, strong wind.

And I hear my alarm go off. Then,

I wake up from my dream again.

Sister Love

You are the closest one to my heart

the only one who understands me

you are always there for every part

you bring my life so much glee

Without you, I wouldn’t be me

you have taught me to be a strong girl

as I grow up I have the rest of the world to see

with just you; my sister; my pearl

There is nobody who knows what i’m thinking

nobody can cheer me up, like you do

When I feel as if the whole world is sinking,

I still smile and cheer up every time I see you.

You’re the best person I’ll ever know,

So please don’t ever go.

Revised Poem 2

Sister Love:

You are the closest one to my heart

the only one who completely understands me

you are always there for every part

seeing you everyday, makes me so happy

Without you, I wouldn’t be me

you have taught me to be a very strong girl

becauseas I grow up I stillhave the rest of the world to see

with just you; my sister; my pearl

There is nobody else who knows exactly what i’m thinking

nobody can cheer me up, like you do

When I feel as if the whole world is sinking,

I somehow find a smile when I think of you.

You’re the best person I’ll ever know,

So please don’t forget me, don’t ever go.

Selected Poem 3

TREE

As I sit here leaning against you

I think of all the times we used to share.

Climbing you, with all my neighborhood friends.

You’d be the center of our friendship and we even named you.

We named you Leafy because you used to have many

Leaves in the fall. I used to come to you on my sad

Days and id even come on the good days.

Your big branches and

many leaves

You’re the
