Component Summary
The purpose of this unit is to ensure that learners, under supervision, can select the correct tools, clear a site, prepare the site for planting, assist in laying turf and then mow it.

Standard 1
Learners will:
Be able to use relevant tools
Learnersshould know/be able to:
a. / Tools from a given range
b. / Tools safely under supervision
c. / Tools after use under supervision
d. / Tools safely after use undersupervision
Assessment:

The following assessment methods can be used in the assessment of this standard:

For 1.a, learners should identify tools from a given range
For 1.b, learners should use tools safely under supervision
For 1.c, learners should clean tools after use under supervision
For 1.d, learners should store tools safely after use under supervision
Standard 2
Learners will:
Know how to prepare land for planting and sowing
Learnersshould know/be able to:
a. / Assist in clearing the site
b. / Soil from first trench
c. / Bottom of trench to improve drainage
d. / Add compost
e. / Soil from first trench to back, fillinglast trench
