Aloha Huber Park TWI:

Aloha Huber Park offers a Two-way immersion strand Kindergarten through 8th grade. AHP has two classrooms for all grade levels Kindergarten through 5th grade. One homeroom teacher, at each grade level (with the exception of 5th grade), teaches exclusively in English and the other homeroom teacher teaches exclusively in Spanish. All content areas (reading, writing, math, social studies, and science) are taught to all TWI students in both languages, with some exceptions based on specific student need. Students are grouped during their academic day based on homeroom, home language, or second language development depending on the content area. Students who exit from English Language Development classes are placed in Spanish Language Development classes.

The TWI program in 6th through 8th grades is at minimum a 90 - minute literacy block in Spanish for students reading at benchmark or above. At the middle school level, our program and the content areas that we are able to provide are dependent on the teachers that we have each year. Currently, we offer Spanish Language Development to 6th graders and 90 minutes of Spanish literacy in grades 6th through 8th for benchmark students.
