ALLERS ALLOTMENT SITE

RULES AND REGULATIONS

1The annual subscription of the allotments will be decided by South Lanarkshire Council and subscriptions for the following year are due on 1 October each year. NB. Plots that have not had fees paid by 30 November will be considered for re-let.

2The tenant is responsible for keeping their plot in a clean and tidy condition at all times, weed growth must be controlled and plots cultivated by the end of March prior to the growing season to a standard deemed acceptable by South Lanarkshire Council.

3The tenant will be responsible for keeping the boundaries and paths adjacent to their allotment in a clean condition. Where a path is adjacent to two plots, the tenants must come to an agreement to keep it clean.

4Greenhouses and sheds will be allowed on the plots but should be sited in an area which does not shade adjacent plots. No brick/stone built buildings will be allowed and the Council has the right to restrict the size and number of structures on a plot.

5No trees (including fruit trees) will be allowed. Fruit bushes are permitted.

6Tenants will not sub-let any part of the allotment to any other person.

7Proper pest and disease control and crop rotation must be carried out.

8The annual subscription of the allotment will be decided by South Lanarkshire Council with the period of let from 1 October to 30 September concurrently.

9Tenants must not allow their plots to become storage areas for glass/timber, rubbish, etc.

10Plotholders have a duty to not adversely affect other plots, be it by spray damage, fertiliser run off, spreading/seeding weeds or any other activity that may cause damage and/or nuisance.

11No tenant shall be allowed to keep livestock of any kind on the plot without the prior consent of the Council.

12Crops, structures, etc. on individual plots are the responsibility of the plotholder and South Lanarkshire Council are not liable should any incident take place and/or damage occur to said items.

13Should any of the aforementioned rules be breached or tenants practice methods which South Lanarkshire Council deem to be to the detriment of the allotments, the plotholder will be notified by letter and given 28 days thereafter to resolve the issue. Tenants not complying with this request will be given a final warning letter with 28 days to rectify the problem and if no satisfactory outcome occurs within this period then the plot lease will be terminated and the plot will be re-allocated.

14No person who has had a lease terminated will be considered for a plot, unless agreed with South Lanarkshire Council.

15Allotments can only be let to residents within the South Lanarkshire Council area.

16Each tenant will be required to sign a Mandate annually to state that while he/she is leasing an allotment he/she agrees to these conditions.

17South Lanarkshire Council reserves the right to alter, add to, or otherwise change these rules as required.

Notes to Allotments Holders

These Rules and Regulations are made to help ensure that every tenant gets the best results and enjoyment from his/her allotment. It is in his/her own interests to see that they are carried out.

All allotment holders are encouraged to join the local Horticultural Society and the on-site Allotment Association for information and help.

Concession Rates

Please note that any person letting an allotment, irrespective of employment status, on reaching the age of 60 is now eligible for a concession rate on their annual rent.

If you are eligible for this concession please return your Mandate along with proof of age.
