Position Posting: Behavior Consultant

Reports To: Director of Special Education

Goals of Position:

The Behavior Consultant position will possess the knowledge and skills necessary to assist individuals, groups and systems with the implementation and maintenance of positive behavior interventions and supports. As a part of a Multi-tiered system of support, the Behavior Consultant will educate and coach staff on school-wide positive behavior interventions and supports, as well as tier two and tier three interventions and supports.

Education: Master degree in related field preferred

Certification: Highly qualified teacher or other special education service provider with full State of Michigan approvals, endorsements or certification

Work Experience: Minimum of three years of experience, working with students with behavioral challenges preferred

Skills:

●  Training in applied behavior analysis preferred or agreement to complete the district approved training within a designated timeframe.

●  Extensive knowledge of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports.

●  Extensive knowledge and experience in assessing the function of student behaviors and developing positive behavior intervention plans.

●  Experience in implementing and/or coaching school personnel on research based classroom management and individualized behavioral interventions.

●  Ability to collect, summarize and graph behavioral data.

●  Extensive knowledge and experience in the use of technology to support instruction and data collection.

●  Demonstrate ability to plan and evaluate strategies for improving instruction.

●  Demonstrates exceptional leadership, facilitation, and communication skills.

Essential Job Functions:

●  Work collaboratively with district administration to create and lead professional development for individual teachers, groups of teacher and/or the entire staff on areas related to teaching and supporting positive behaviors.

●  Serve as a behavioral consultant to administrators, school staff and parents.

●  Provide leadership in the classroom and school setting through modeling the use of highly effective positive behavior interventions and supports in the classroom.

●  Facilitate team meetings and support teams in the completion of Functional Behavior Analysis and quality Behavior Intervention Plans.

●  Use ongoing assessments and data collection tools to record and monitor student and district level progress.

●  Support teams and assist with student crisis intervention.

●  Attend professional development opportunities to maintain high level of knowledge of current research and practices.

●  Maintain complete, accurate and timely documents and records.

●  Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education.

●  Regular and consistent attendance is expected

●  CPI Training required
