POSITION DESCRIPTION: ALLIED HEALTH COORDINATOR

1.00GENERAL STATEMENTS

1.01Position Scope

A.The Allied Health Coordinator will coordinate the Allied Health program.

2.00SPECIFIC STATEMENTS

2.01Position Function and Category

  1. Reporting Relationship: Dean for the Iola Campus or Dean for the Burlingame Campus, as assigned
  1. Function/Category of Position: Management/Supervisory
  1. Length of Contract: 12 Months (July 1 through June 30 annually)
  1. Salary Category: III

2.02Supervision

  1. Supervision Received: Reports to Dean for the Iola Campus or Dean for the Burlingame Campus, as assigned.
  1. Supervision Exercised: Coordinates Allied Health adjunct faculty and may supervise work study students.

2.03Key Areas of Responsibility

  1. Serve as primary academic and career advisorfor students in the Allied Healthprogram and students seeking Allied Healthcourses or certificates.
  1. Develop agency and clinical contacts for the Allied Health program.
  1. Recruit students for the Allied Health program.

  1. Assist in developing and disseminating Allied Health promotional materials, including assistance to the Director of Public Relations in the development of advertising for Allied Health.
  1. Serve as contact person with the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services (KDADS), adult and eldercare facilities, and other agencies and organizations affiliated with the Allied Health field.
  1. Prepare and submit documentation for course approvals through Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services (KDADS), Kansas State Board of Nursing (KSBN), and Kansas Board of Emergency Medical Services (KBEMS).
  1. Prepare reports to renew sponsorships with Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services (KDADS), Kansas State Board of Nursing (KSBN), and Kansas Board of Emergency Medical Services (KBEMS).
  1. Assist with career and technical education reporting for Allied Health program with the Kansas Board of Regents (KBOR).
  1. Assist with scheduling of Allied Health courses.
  1. Coordinate onsite classes and clinicals with appropriate agencies, nursing home administrators, directors of nursing, etc.
  1. Assist with identifyingand recommending Allied Health adjunctfaculty.
  1. Coordinate with the appropriate Dean to prepare and submit contract requests for compensation for Allied Health adjunct faculty.
  1. Observe clinicals conducted by program faculty on a rotational basis.
  1. Develop new courses as needed or directed to maintain program relevance and sustainability.
  1. Coordinate and prepare internal and external Program Review(s) for the Allied Health program.
  1. Prepare documentation, establish testing dates, coordinate and administer State testing for students in Allied Health courses.

  1. Prepare appropriate documentation for facilities that sponsor students, including Social and Rehabilitation Services, Kansas Works, etc.
  1. Research grant opportunities and lead grant development writing as they pertain to the Allied Health program.
  1. Provide leadership for the Allied Health program Advisory Council(s).
  1. Perform other duties as assigned.
