POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: Intern, Communication Services Department

QUALIFICATIONS:

1.  Current enrollment in post-secondary institution in a communication-related field such as public/media relations or advertising. Must have completed applicable communications courses.

2.  Portfolio featuring a variety of writing samples preferred.

3.  Knowledge and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite programs

4.  Proficient in time management.

5.  Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

6.  Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work under pressure.

7.  Self-motivator, independent, cooperative, flexible, creative, and responsible.

REPORTS TO: Supervisor of Communication Services

ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE:

The Communication Services Intern will work within the Communication Services Department to complete department and organization-wide projects. Applicant must be currently enrolled in a post-secondary degree program.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Activities in this internship will include the following:

·  Updating media lists

·  Creating media databases

·  Updating AIU’s social media sites

·  Capturing photos and video

·  Writing (short) media advisories/press releases

·  Attending special events

·  Other projects as assigned

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This position will receive a stipend based upon number of hours worked and length of internship. The position is available only to current students who are completing course requirements for a post-secondary degree program. FBI, PA Child Abuse and PA Criminal clearances MUST be obtained before first date of employment. The Communication Services Department will work with the college or university to meet the academic requirements of the internship.
