The Community Housing Cymru Communications Awards will take place at CHC’s PR Conference in Llandrindod Wells on Wednesday 4 December. The categories are listed below – you can enter up to six categories. We will be asking participants to judge a specific category which you haven’t chosen to enter, so all the judging will be contained within the PR Network.

All submissions must range from 1 July 2012 to 30 September 2013.

Categories

  1. Tenant magazine or newsletter
  2. Submit 1 issues within 15 month period from 1 July2012 – 30 September2013
  1. Tenant voice award
  2. The best example of an individual/team that has supported tenants to communicate with each other/to the public. It can be an initiative that has enabled tenants and residents’ views/issues/achievements/pride in their area to reach a wider audience. This could be anything from a local media campaign to a regular tenants’ column in a newsletter or the setting up of a Facebook group.
  3. An explanation of no longer than 300 words detailing and evidencing what was done.
  4. Two pieces of evidence (such as press cuttings, newsletter cuttings, screenshots, DVDs etc.)
  1. Design award
  2. Two pieces of graphic design work by internal or external designer or agency to be submitted. Examples could include a logo or other branding, the layout of a publication, an advert, a poster etc. If the submission is from external designers used by the housing association, the name of the designer needs to be stated on entry.
  1. Best content
  2. A piece of work to be submitted alongside an explanation of no longer than 300 words detailing the target audience and the method used to ensure that the content was adapted to the target audience. This could be a publication such as a leaflet or brochure or another form of communication such as a DVD or website.
  1. Annual report
  2. The most recent annual report produced to be submitted.
  1. Best use of new media
  2. An explanation of no more than 300 words explaining how new media was used and for what purpose e.g. podcasts, texts, video streaming, social media.
  1. Best website
  2. This award will be based on both the design and content of the website.
  3. This award will be judged by the judges on the same day to ensure that content and design is consistent for all judges.
  1. Effective use of Welsh language
  2. Any method of communication such as a leaflet, interview, social media campaign in the medium of Welsh or in bilingual format. Will be judged on appropriateness of language and shaping of content for a Welsh language audience.
  3. One piece of evidence (such as a publication, web page, DVD etc.)
  1. Best marketing or information campaign
  2. Short explanation of no more than 300 words with evidence of the purpose of the campaign, how it took place and the outcomes achieved. Entries should demonstrate a positive outcome.
  3. Two pieces of evidence (such as press cuttings, publications, photographs etc.)
  1. Successful issue management
  2. Short explanation of no more than 300 words on how you dealt with an unplanned event or issue, what was done to combat the issue and the outcome from dealing with this issue in the manner that you chose.
  1. Best internal communication
  2. Short explanation of no more than 300 words on a method(s) of internal communication that has created positive outcomes for the organisation.
  1. The ‘something for nothing’ award
  2. Short explanation of no more than 300 words on how a creative idea enabled you to achieve media coverage or a response from the target audience with little or no budget
  1. Best communication with young people
  2. Could be a publication, press coverage, new media initiative or marketing event – something that enabled a housing organisation to engage with young people.
  3. Two pieces of evidence (such as press cuttings, screenshots, photographs etc.)
  1. Best communication with older people
  2. Could be a publication, press coverage, new media initiative or marketing event – something that enabled a housing organisation to engage with older people.
  3. Two pieces of evidence (such as press cuttings, photographs, printed information etc.)
  1. The creativity award
  2. Best use of creativity in any method of communication e.g.an imaginative stall, a piece of creative design or presenting an annual report in an unusual format.
  3. One piece of evidence (such as a photograph, publication, DVD etc.)
  1. Event
  2. Submit an explanation of no more than 300 words about an event, whether it is an information event for tenants or stakeholders, why it took place and the outcomes that were achieved.
  3. Two pieces of evidence (such as photographs, promotional literature etc.)
  1. Best photograph of the last year
  2. One photograph to be submitted by each housing association, either internally by the housing association or commissioned by an external photographer. If the photograph was commissioned by an external photographer, please state their name in your entry.
  1. Successful partnership award
  2. Short explanation of no more than 300 words on how you have communicated to partners within your organisation or with an external partner and the outcomes achieved.
  3. Two pieces of evidence (such as press cuttings, photographs, promotional literature etc.)
  1. Best overall communication of the year
  2. Based on all the entries received, one individual or team from a housing association will be chosen for communicating the best throughout the year. CHC will judge this award.
