Program launch

A good way to let your school community know about what is happening and celebrate your involvement in RWTS is to hold a program launch. This can be as simple as a presentation at a school assembly or could involve a range of events and activities to promote riding and walking to school.

You may wish to do this when you receive your bikes in Term 1.

When will you hold your launch?

All staff workshop: Get to know your bikes

After you receive your bikes a team will come to your school for a 2 hour workshop. They will run your staff through the basics of your new bikes and give you some ideas on activities you can do with students.

These whole staff workshops are available on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Book your workshop at www.paf.org.au/bookings If you need to negotiate a different day contact

Optional Extras – Expression of Interest

Excursions to Early Childhood Schools with learn to ride facilities

There are a number of early childhood schools with learn to ride facilities that are open for other schools and the community to use.

The Ride or Walk to School program provides schools that have community bike tracks with bikes that can be utilised by visiting schools.

Please let us know if your school is interested in taking students in pre-school – year 2 on an excursion to one of these facilities and we will get more information to you.

o No thanks, our school isn’t interested at the moment

Advanced Bike Maintenance Course

There are a number of options schools can look into to maintain the school bikes.

It’s recommended that schools engage a professional to service their bikes at least once a year.

To support this, the Ride or Walk to School program is offering an advanced bike maintenance course for our participating schools to send teachers, parents or students too.

This will equip participants with the skills and knowledge needed to keep the bikes in good shape and ensure they last the distance.
