MATTAPOISETT CHOWDER HOUSE

79 Fairhaven Road (Route 6), Mattapoisett (508)758-4782

Not fancy, just plain good, with reasonable prices. Less than 10 minutes from the rink, you’ll find some of the best seafood in the area. The owner and staff are as gracious as can be, and the dining is peaceful, with excellent food all around. At night they even have an old guy on the piano (we hope he's still there). In addition to the lobster, scallops, and clams, they have great sandwiches and other stuff to suit you and the kids. Pleasant bar too. It is hard to find nicer people or better seafood. We have never had to wait (because we usually get there later) butReservations suggested*.

Directions - Turn right out of the rink and go a short distance and turn right onto Main Street. Go 2/10 of a mile. Turn left onto Mills Street (Rte. 6) and go 5.6 miles to The Mattapoisett Chowder House, staying on Rte. 6 the entire way. The Mattapoisett Chowder House is on your right.

TURKS

83 Marion Road, Mattapoisett (508) 758-3117

Best known for its excellent seafood, Turk’s also has chicken, burgers, and steak. Without question, one of the area’s best seafood houses. Reservations suggested*. CASH ONLY!

Directions: Turn right out of the rink onto Front Street. Go 2/10 of a mile and turn right onto Main Street. Go 2/10 of a mile and turn left onto Mill Road (Rte. 6). Go 1.2 miles and Turks will be on your right.

  • The Marion/Mattapoisett areas aren't crowded in winter, so there are times when reservations are unnecessary. However, during the Tabor New Year’s Tournament, making a call may be the smart thing to do.

THE KINSALE INN

The Oldest Seaside Inn in the Nation

13 Water Street, Mattapoisett (508) 758-4922

Website:

The Kinsale Inn is a beautiful and warm setting, even in winter. It’s a fun and friendly place with a really terrific Pub and some great dining as well. The dinner entrees include duck, lobster, and lamb, and the appetizers are superb. Great place for a few pints and some finger-pickin' snacks. They also have hearty sandwiches and burgers if you’re so inclined. Late night fare is available in the pub after the kitchen closes. Reservations suggested* for the main dining room.
