Notices and Reminders

·  Please let me know if you did not receive a school directory last week. I was out a couple of days and want to be sure that all families received one.

·  For the math homework on p. 41, the children are to make models of number pairs for 6. The easiest way to do this (and future similar assignments) is to set the book page up the follow way (please ignore the red star in the center– that’s just how I keep track of which pages have been assigned):

Again, please let me know if you’d like a set of dual-colored counters to help with math assignments at home. Feel free to substitute any other item though, such as coins (using heads/tails), game pieces, jelly beans, etc.

Whenever we use a ten frame (the boxes at the top of the page), it is important to fill up the frame the same way each time. We fill up the top row first followed by the bottom, as opposed to grouping them a different way such as in the picture below. Grouping them the same way each time helps build a strong number sense and lets children easily see the relationship of the number to the numbers five and ten (the number 6 is easily seen as one more than 5, or 4 less than 10). Please let me know if you have any questions about these types of assignments.

J Have a great week! J
