Dear All-County Band Participant & Parents,

Congratulations on being selected to participate in this year’s Intermediate All-County Band Festival! You should be proud of your musical accomplishments and the honor in which you represent your school and community. We are looking forward to the music you and your peers will create together in the next few months.

We are pleased to announce the conductor for the 2017 Intermediate All-County Band, Mr. Micah Sprague. Mr. Sprague is a French horn player and graduate of Boston University and Queens College. Mr. Sprague began his teaching career at Center Moriches High School on Long Island. After four years, he moved on to the Sleepy Hollow Middle-High School where he has been the Band Director for the past 12 years and Department Chairperson for two years. He is the director of numerous Sleepy Hollow bands, jazz bands, jazz combo and pit orchestra. Mr. Sprague is the festival coordinator for the annual Sleepy Hollow Jazz Festival, has run and hosted the HMEA Jazz Band and is a founding member of the Rivertowns Music Festival. He conducted the Hudson Valley Symphonic Wind Ensemble “Silent Night” in 2009 and the Rivertowns Music Festival Honor Band in 2011.

Mr. Sprague is proud to be a third-generation educator and second-generation band director. He currently lives in Mahopac with his two children Clara and Colin, and his wonderful wife Alison. Mr. Sprague is very excited to work with the Intermediate All-County Band this spring.
