Bikeworks was set up to take advantage of the market opportunity represented by the rapid growth of cycling and the potential this offered to deliver strong social and environmental outcomes through the social enterprise model.

Bikeworks is looking for an individual who will thrive in a fast paced, upbeat working environment.

Scope of the role:

The role will involve working to manage the All Ability Cycling Programme dealing with day to day logistics and organisational duties associated with the current programme activities and evolving the current programme. In addition the role will involve working with the Director on the development of training and activities for inclusive cycling as the programme develops, with the opportunity to take the initiative for projects over time.

In particular Bikeworks are looking to develop a disabilty and health cycling centre within or close to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. This an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal part in bringing together stakeholders, securing funding and revenue streams to support this inovative all ability cycling program.

Salary & conditions:

  • £23k To £28k Depending on skills and experience(Pro-rata)
  • 3 Days a week 09.00 to 17.30 with occasional out of hours work possible
  • 25 days holiday (Pro-rata )
  • Pension contribution
  • Initial one year contract with expectation of becoming permanent and possibility of full time.

Person Specification

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong organisational skills & ability to handle a variety of logistical tasks across multiple projects within the programme
  • Strong oral and written communication & interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with standard Microsoft IT packages including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • An open manner when dealing with enquiries (face to face / email / phone) and an ability to deal with people from a wide range of social groups, abilities and backgrounds
  • Ability to work under pressure and use initiative to complete a variety of tasks from across the developing All Ability Cycling programme
  • Excellent standard of English – both written and spoken
  • Educated to A level standard or equivalent

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • One year or more experience in a project management based role (to include an element of event organisation)
  • Experience or understanding ofworking with young people and adults with a range of learning and/or physical disabilities and their families and carers
  • Experience or understanding of volunteering and working with volunteers
  • An understanding of and buy into Bikeworks organisational values as a social enterprise
  • An interest and knowledge of cycling (including disability cycling)

Reporting to:Director

Job Description

  • Management of bespoke funded projects (both public and corporate funding) including liaison with clients, report writing,event planning, strategy planning & implementation of programmes.
  • Developing a strong working relationship with a pool of freelance instructors and communicating with them effectively.
  • Development and management of our Special Olympics training programme & facilitating the running of annual competitions
  • Communications, logistics & management of regular All Ability Clubs (East / West)
  • Development of database of contacts including potential service users & partner organisations
  • Communication with service usersand their families or carers with respect to involvement in programmes,mentorship opportunities, general enquiries & case studies
  • Development & on-going management of structured volunteer programme
  • Development of All Ability training structures for instructors & volunteers
  • Management & tracking of budgets
  • Recording & analysis of user information & data
  • Liaison with marketing team regarding news / events / social media contributions
  • Liaison with operations team regarding crewing, diary planning, equipment maintenance & logistics
  • Preparation of monthly target/reporting information for board members
