Introduction

On behalf of the committee I would like to present this report about the past year.

I must say that it had indeed been a great privilege and honour for me to have been the Chairman of the Pretoria Amateur Radio Club for the past year.

I would like to start off by thanking every member of my committee for their wisdom, support and tremendous effort during the year. As you all know, this is definitely not a one man show but a team effort to keep everything on track. Andas well as to constantly resolve the admin challenges that comes up.

During the past year the key of 1 of our honorary and until recent very active, club members, have become silent. On the 15 th of March 2013, OM Bill Ingelson,ZS6KO, lost the battle with cancer. He had been a member of our club for 65 years. RIP old friend. We will remember you.

During the past year, oOur club membership during the past year had has increased. We currently have just fewer than 880 paid-up members making us one of the biggest clubs in the country. The rest of the committee and I would like to thank those members who so regularly renew their subscriptions and who actively participate in club activities like attending the meetings, participation during contests, reporting in on weekly bulletins, contributions to Watts and our website, which can certainly be morestill be improved, keeping our VHF and UHF repeaters going, making sure that Echo link, IRLP and DSTAR is working, arranging flea-markets, organising communications at rallies and so much more.

The PARC Logo incorporates an image of the SARL Logo mainly because of PARC’s affiliation with the SARL. During the past year, the SARL Logo has changed, as did the rules and guidelines for its use by clubs and members.

The SARL does not allow their new logo to be used as it is used in the PARC logo at present. It is also a good idea for the PARC logo to be completely under control of the club, owing nothing to any other organisation.

The committee would not like to force a new logo on the club members and has therefore decided to await proposals from the members. The member whose proposal is finally adopted, will receive free club membership for a year (two years?).

Send your proposals in MS Word format to the PARC Secretary before the end of 2013, together with any explanations (if necessary) of the symbolism involved. The committee will select a new logo from the available proposals, at their January meeting.
