National Emergency Shelter and NFI Cluster

Venue: UNHCR Conference Room

Date: 15January 2012

Agenda Points and Discussion / Conclusions / Follow-up
  1. Standardization of shelter assistance
  • Importance of having one shelter design for IDPs was highlighted and it was proposed to start discussions with the cluster members to come up with one shelter design to be used by all members of the ES & NFIs cluster.
/
  • Participants agreed to review the existing shelter designs (both emergency and permanent shelters) used by different agencies up to now.
  • UNHCR and other members to share their current shelter design for further discussion in the upcoming meeting.
/
  • Cluster members to share their shelter designs with UNHCR & IOM before the meeting in February.

  1. Finalization of minimum NFI package:
  • The first proposed minimum NIFs package was shared, however, given the low participation in the meeting it was suggested to agree on a unified package in the upcoming meeting. Please see annex I with changes proposed by the members.
/
  • The final proposed NFIs package will be presented during Feb meeting and will be endorsed by the cluster.

  1. Shelter projects in 2012:
  • To better coordinate and have a clear picture of the 2012 shelter projects and NFI distributions, the chair requested the cluster members to share their progress reports each month. Furthermore, she added that in order to have one reporting system, the cluster will prepare a template and will share with the cluster member to be used for monthly reports.
/
  • A template will be shared with the cluster members, which will be updated every month.

  1. Reporting:
  • The chair once again requested the cluster members to share their monthly reports latest by 04th of each month. She added that this issue has been raised in previous meetings but so far few members of the cluster such asIOM, CARE and NRC provided their inputs for the monthly updates.
/
  • The cluster members were once again requested by the cluster lead and co-lead to share their reports on time. Names of agencies who do not share their monthly updates with the cluster will be reported to OCHA and donors.
