LGBTI Aged Care Sector Training

Aged care professionals, GPs and nurses are invited to this training session.
This one day training aims to support the development of culturally appropriate services for older Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex (LGBTI) people. The training includes a mix of interactive activities, research presentations and small group work in a safe and non-judgmental environment which encourages open discussion.
Learning Outcomes:
On completion of this course you will be able to:
• provide culturally appropriate services for older LGBTI people;
• have improved awareness of the range of issues facing older LGBTI people, learn about relevant policy and legal issues, and understand aspects of good practice and inclusive care for LGBTI clients/residents.
This training is part of a national initiative, managed by the National LGBTI Health Alliance and funded by the Commonwealth Department of Social Services.

Sally has been actively involved in Melbourne’s queer community for the last sixteen years. This includes ongoing involvement with TransGender Victoria (now as Executive Director), co-presenter of 3 CR’s “Out of the Pan,” Treasurer of Bisexual Alliance Victoria and as a member of the Intersex, Trans and Gender Diverse working group of the LGBTI Health Alliance.
Andrew is a transman who is “husband” to loving partner Paul and carer to his 21 year old autistic son. Andrew is a founding member and the current President of FTM Shed, a support group for trans men. He is a qualified trainer with a Communications Degree and his passion is making lives better through front line service provision and practical trainingopportunities for staff strongly linked toreal life experience
