Author Statements

These statements are required for papers which have been accepted for publication.

All contributing authors are asked to give signed consent to publication, to confirm that they have approved the final accepted version of their manuscript and have made all required statements and declarations as detailed below.

It is the responsibility of the corresponding author to ensure that the final accepted version of the manuscript has been read and approved by each of the contributing authors. The corresponding author should instruct the Editorial Office () if any changes to the final accepted version of the manuscript are required in light of the conditions of these Author Statements.

This document may be filled and signed on your computer, but we are happy to received scanned copies of these Author Statements which have been printed and filled by hand. If all authors are not able to sign the same copy of this document we can accept multiple copies of the signature sheet which have been signed individually. The completed document(s) should be uploaded to Manuscript Central. Full instructions and a direct link to the uploader will have been sent to the corresponding author.

For Reference

The editor and publisher reserve the right to reject manuscripts which do not conform to policies of Age and Ageing or Oxford University Press. Submissions may be modified or shortened by the Editor before acceptance for publication.

Manuscripts should conform to the Uniform Requirements of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors.

For reporting of randomised trials, authors are advised to work to the guidelines in the CONSORT statement.

Age and Ageing is a member of the Committee of Publication Ethics (COPE) Age and Ageing reserves the right to use plagiarism detecting software to screen submitted papers. In accordance with the COPE code of conduct we will report any cases of suspected plagiarism or duplicate publication.

To fulfil all of the criteria for authorship, every author of the manuscript must have made substantial contributions to ALL of the following aspects of the work:

We would not wish you or your co-authors to be embarrassed if any undeclared conflicts of interest were to emerge after publication. Contributors must therefore declare any commercial interests, such as directorships, share-holdings, consultancies, honoraria, grants, fees, gifts or travel expenses received from organisations whose product is used in a study or referred to in your article. Financial or personal interests in competing companies should also be stated.
