AGC MEMBER FACT SHEET

The AGC of Mississippi was chartered by the AGC ofAmerica in April of 1946. The Association merged with the MississippiGulfCoastChapter and became a state-wide organization in 1972. Membership is comprised ofapproximately 400 construction firms representing all facets of the construction industry from building contractors, specialty contractors, municipal and utility contractors, road and bridge contractors and associate industry members.It is the mission of the AGC of Mississippi to provide leadership and services to allAGC members and to the construction industry.

AGC MEMBERSHIP ELIGIBILITY

The MSAGC welcomes all Contractors including General Contractors, Specialty Contractors, Municipal/Utility Contractors, Road & Bridge Contractors,Material Suppliers, Bonding & Insurance Companies, Industry Professionals, Owners, Developers, Banks, etc.

BENEFITS OF MEMBERSHIP

Monthly membership meetings are held on the Gulf Coast and at the Jackson location. All AGC members are invited to attend all AGC Meetings and Events. The majority of the events are at no charge to AGC MS Members and offer informative and relative programs on current issues facing the construction industry.

Weekly receipt of the MSAGC Construction Bulletin which contains up to date bid information on all plans on file, project bidders’ lists, apparent low bidders, contracts awarded and current news from the industry.

Receipt of AGC’s constant contact with news regarding AGC both locally and nationally.

Membership to Plan House plan room online service that was created to assist AGC members in finding projects online offering convenience. AGC members are eligible to participate at a reduced rate of $400. Hard copy documents, printing, dedicated account management, and an option for custom plan room and invitation to bid are also available at a reduced fee.

Participation in MSAGCAnnualState Convention, AGC National Conventions, Spring Seminar and the AGC BuildMississippi Awards Program.

Voluntary participation in ComptrustAGC, AGC's self-insured workers' compensation program. AGC provides job site safety & OSHA regulations training AT NO COST TO CompTrust Members, First Aid/CPR courses and job site start up kits to all insured’s of this workers' compensation fund. CompTrust has declared in excess of $14 million in dividends which have been returned to AGC members. AGC’s Safety Director, Carl Dowden, is available for CompTrust members’ training needs and for risk management and OSHA consultations also at no charge to CompTrust members.

Participation in the annual fish fry, crawfish boils, fishing bonanza, meet and greets, state convention, Sonny Fountain Memorial Golf Tournament and other networking events. AGC has 20+ events scheduled for 2017.

Participation in the prestigious Build MS Awards presented each December to recognize excellence in construction in the following categories: Commercial, Healthcare, Industrial/Public Works/Environmental, Infrastructure, Institutional, Renovation, Interiors Vertical finishes, Site-Work/Landscape, Electrical, Mechanical, Design/Build

Participation in PAC which is a voluntary, nonprofit, unincorporated organization that promotes the construction industry, free enterprise, and the economic health of Mississippi’s construction industry. It is committed to influencing Mississippi public policy by identifying political candidates who would best serve the interests of the local construction industry. Also, the committee watches and takes action on any proposed legislation that would adversely affect the members of the association.

GENERAL CONTRACTOR MEMBERS

(Holds a state license for building construction)

In addition, General Contractor members must pay job fees into the MS Chapter on each awarded contract at the rate of 1/5 of 1%. The annual minimum job fee is $1500.00 and the maximum annual job fee is $7,500.00

PROVISIONAL MEMBERS

(New General Contractor companies are allowed to participate as Provisional Members for their first three years of membership. )

*In addition, Provisional Members must pay job fees into the MS Chapter on each awarded but will receive a 25% discount on reported fees. The annual minimum job fee is $1125.00 for the first year, $1275.00 for the second year and $1425.00 for the third year. The maximum annual fee is $7,500.00.
