Detective work begins by:

1.  Choose a phenomenon.

Use the questions below as a guide to researching your phenomenon. You are not limited to these questions, additional information is encouraged. Please make note cards to keep track of the following questions.

a.  What is the history of the phenomenon? When was it first seen? When did interest in it begin?

b.  List any people connected with the phenomenon. List sightings, encounters, etc.

c.  Is the phenomenon believed to be alive? Has it been alive? Or has it never been alive? What are the theories and explanations about the existence of the phenomenon?

d.  How did the phenomenon get its name? What other facts did you find?

e.  After doing the research, what is your belief about the phenomenon? Why?

2.  Find and include pictures of the phenomenon.

3.  Arrange your information into a pamphlet that will follow the following format (note this must be a minimum of four paragraphs):

a. Panel 1: Introduction. Your paragraph must include; name, definition, and location.

b. Panel 2: Explain the history and sightings (1-2 paragraphs)

c. Panel 3: Discuss the theories and explanations. (1-2 paragraphs)

d. Panel 4: Conclusion- Use the five sentence descriptive paragraph again, this time highlight

the items that were interesting to you.

e. Panel 5: Bibliography- site the resources you used, give credit to the authors

f. Panel 6: Title of topic, your name, class period, graphic

4.  When your report is finished you will present your findings to the class. Your oral presentation will need to have a visual aid to help your explain your phenomenon. Be creative- think outside of the box! Some suggestions for your visual are:
