African Revival is recruiting for the followings positions:

Position: SPEED SCHOOLS COORDINATOR

Requirement:

- Minimum of a degree in education or related field with a minimum of five years’ experience in the education sector.

- Ability to train staff in effective teaching methods

- Ability to monitor and evaluate education programs

- Willing to reside in the project location Nwoya district and ready to travel to the sites for supervision regularly

- Must have a valid riding permit

Position Function:

The Speed Schools Coordinator is responsible for the implementation of all the components of African Revival’s Speed Schools project as per the specified quality standards in the Speed Schools guidelines. The functions of this program assume responsibility in recruiting, selection, training, supervisory and evaluation of all paid and related staff who are working with Speed School program. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following areas:

1. Training of Speed School supervisors, teachers and other Speed Schools personnel

2. Speed Schools Implementation

3. Budgeting and Financial Planning

4. Public Relations

5. Supervision of all the four components Speed School program

6. Directly responsible for Primary school capacity building

7. Direct supervision of pre-school program and its development

Position Responsibilities:

1. Training of Speed School supervisors, teachers and other Speed Schools personnel

2. Responsible for updating African Revival’s head office about Speed Schools project

3. Introduce effective teaching strategies and train Speed Schools Facilitators

4. Facilitate the appropriate teaching strategies for teachers in linked primary schools

5. Responsible for the work plan, performance appraisal, performance improvement, job orientation (new staff), career development, personal health, and physical and mental and emotional of all staff in the Speed Schools project.

6. Speed School Implementation

• Implement / facilitate programs, classes, or activities that meet the goals and objectives of both the direct and indirect beneficiaries of Speed Schools, Self-help Groups, pre-school and primary school capacity building.

• Responsible for all reports/data on the program and submitting it regularly to Geneva Global Speed Schools Program Manager.

• Responsible for his/her site visit plans as well as that of Speed School Supervisors

• Establish and take part in regular scheduled program meetings at different levels

  • Supervise the community mobilisers to ensure Speed Schools and Self-help Group objectives are achieved
  • Conduct a Needs Assessment, monitor and evaluate the program on a regular scheduled basis

7. Budgeting and Financial Planning

  • Submit budget request and monthly reports and accountabilities of expenses to Geneva Global Speed Schools Program Manager
  • Supervise the financial transactions and ensure appropriate financial records for all programs and activities are maintained

8. Public relations

  • Coordinate the development of best practice and stories of Speed Schools activities, that inform all the stakeholders of the program.
  • Liaise among the appropriate government, Bureaus, implementing partners and Geneva Global Speed Schools Program Manager.

9. Directly responsible for Primary School capacity building

  • Manage the quality improvement of the linked government primary schools
  • Responsible for training of Teachers in linked primary schools
  • Initiate and implement different innovative quality school improvement program
  • Organize school committees and special classes for slow learners and dropouts

10. Direct supervision of preschool program and its development

  • Organize and manage the pre-school program
  • Responsible to follow the progress and transfer of pre-school children to Grade
