Program Title:Family Life Education Program
Preamble:
The Family is the basic unit and an indispensable building block for any society.The Family functions like the cells that make up our physical bodies. The family performs some significant functions in the society, including:
The reproduction of Children. This enables societies to continue to exist. Human societies will disappear if everybody dies and if new members are not reproduced.
The training and upbringing of children to acquire the basic social characteristics for useful and meaningful contributions to societal development. Children begin to learn their language and religion for instance in the Family, including the rules and regulations of society so that they grow up to become morally, spiritually and socially responsible.
The Family also provides love, care, support and protection to the children. This helps the children to grow up as normal human beings who are morally upright and socially responsible.
THE PROGRAM:
The Family Life Education Program is an inspirational initiative of the Africa Christian Youths Development Foundation, dedicated to the realization of the objectives of the Family by raising families and marriages that will give birth to, and raise their children to become good ambassadors of their homes, responsible social citizens, resulting of course, in the establishment of communities that are peaceful, just and founded on the fear of God, love of God and neighbor, integrity, equity and goodness.
The three main themes of the Family Life Education Program include:
Education on the ideal of Marriage and the Family. This deals with the original concept and Divine Plan for Marriage and the Family including its attendant impact on the general well being of all people and societies.
Education on the causes of Family breakdown and Marriage Failures. This theme addresses how humanity deviated from the original concept, plan and direction toward marriage and Family life, including the social and spiritual consequences of such deviations on parents and the society.
Education on the restoration of the Family. This theme deals with education on how we can re-vision the Family from the present reality to the original ideal standard and how to facilitate the realization of the ultimate destiny of Marriage and the Family.
The Family Life Education Program includes:
Family 101: Family Life Education for Bachelors and Spinsters. This is a study course designed to prepare bachelors and spinsters for successful and enduring marriages.
Family 102:Family Life Education for Couples and Parents. This is a study course designed to strengthen marriages in order to ensure that we have stable families. This course is for couples.
Family 103:Family Life Education for Counselors and Educators. This is a course designed for educators, marriage counselors and others dedicated to the promotion of family and social values.It is open to both men and women, but preference will be given to those who are already married.
Successful completion of any of the above courses leads to the award of a “Certificate in Family Life Education”.
All courses offered under the Family Life Education Program are provided by trained professionals, Marriage Counselors and Family Life Experts in Nigeria and abroad. Interested candidates can apply to start anytime of the year. Each component of the Program lasts for a minimum of two and a maximum of three months, depending on the ability and availability of the individual or couples. The courses are also offered Online.
