AES School wide Title 1 Survey Goals for 2016 – 2017
Survey item #s 3, 5, 6,7, (These questions received several NO or DON’T KNOW answers. We hope these various activities will improve the program.)
3 – “Were you asked to help design the school’s Parent Involvement Policy?” (This is done at our annual spring meeting.)
5 – “Have you been invited to a parent-teacher conference this year?” (If not, set one up using space for it when you receive child’s report cards.)
6 – “Were you offered information or suggestions on how to help your child’s learning such as: monitoring attendance, homework completion, extended school services, etc? (Family Resource Center and Title 1 provide information throughout the year.)
7 – “Have you been asked how the school could improve the Parent Involvement Program?” (We try to ask at all events.)
· Activity # 1
Use the automated phone system, invitations, and reminders to invite everyone to the Fall Picnic, Open House, and Spring Meeting – where parents are asked for input on the design of the Parent Involvement Policy and how the school could improve the Parent Involvement Program, etc.
· Activity # 2
Ask Matt Baker to change the word “design” to “review and revise”. We need to add again to the Student Handbook, page 5, Title 1. (There is an annual meeting for parents/guardians. This meeting is for you to help us review and revise the School’s Parent Involvement Policy and Home School Learning Compact.) Keep the Title 1 sentence at the top of the Policy so parents/guardians see it when we send the policy.
· Activity # 3
The AES web site will have information about all of above-mentioned events and will be reviewed annually at the Parent Involvement Meeting. Survey Goals will be on the site. Have this just before AR Family Night and give books as door prizes.
· Activity # 4
Send cover letter home with the surveys again like we used to. Ask Matt Baker if we can send them school-wide again, instead of district wide.
· Activity # 5
Send questions 3, 5, 6, and 7 home mid-year along with a list of programs, activities, and duties.
· Activity # 6
A list of programs, activities, and duties will be posted in the office hallway and the main hallway.
· Activity # 7
Have a Title 1 Information booth with help and support suggestions at the Fall Picnic and Open House. FRC puts material and information at this booth. FRC has a link on our website as do Title I and SBDM. The counselor has her page for parents to check out, too.
· Activity # 8
· Send Information/Suggestion packets home in fall, winter, and spring. (Include question #7 “Have you been asked how the school could improve the parent involvement program?” in this format – We have a question for you. “How can the school improve the parent involvement program”? If you have an answer please write it below or give us a call because we value your input.)
· Activity # 9
Have Student Leaders participate in the annual Parent Involvement Meeting.
· Activity # 10
Provide parents with a Parent Involvement Resource List.
· Activity # 11
Parent/Teacher Conference Dates will be sent home and put on the website in teacher newsletters. All 9 weeks progress reports have a place on the front for you to set up a conference. Parents/Guardians can call the office and ask them to leave a message with teachers to call them back when they are not busy teaching so they can discuss a conference.
· Activity # 12
Ask Mr. Baker to host a District Wide Title 1 Parent Involvement Meeting with a brief explanation about the program and asking for their input on the District Parent Involvement Policy.
