Arnett Consulting Services, in conjunction with the Florida Municipal Electric Association (FMEA), has scheduled an Advanced Revenue Recovery training program at the Homewood Suites Hotel in Orlando, FL.

OBJECTIVE

This seminar is designed to enhance the skills of investigators enabling them to effectively conduct investigations into major and complex cases of revenue loss. Included in this training is three phase meter mechanics, AMR and solid state metering, methods of tampering, revenue loss problems and losses from malfunctioning equipment.

This seminar will also focus on conducting an inspection of commercial accounts as well as techniques to analyze the field data for potential areas of lost revenue.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

All revenue recovery investigators who have been in the position for one year OR who have been through a Basic Revenue Recovery Program, revenue recovery supervisors, revenue recovery managers, metering technicians and billing personnel involved with revenue loss. Any additional personnel involved with the investigation, billing or collection of lost revenues.

INSTRUCTORS

Ed Holmes joined Jersey Central Power & Light Co. in 1959 and held various positions in the Line Dept., Meter Dept. and Customer Accounting before being named manager of Revenue Protection in 1982. Ed developed & implemented an industry recognized theft program and major revenue producing account inspection and lock-up program. Ed was responsible for ultimately returning $9.62 for each $1 spent. He is certified as a Utility Theft & Fraud Investigator, Interviewer & Interrogator and Law Enforcement Photographer as well as being certified in Skip Tracing and Surveillance. Ed is past chairperson of IURPA and NURPA.

Johanna Sullivan began her career at Jersey Central Power & Light Co. in 1985 and joined Revenue Protection in 1989. As a member of the department she investigated cases of theft and participated in numerous search warrants. In a program she developed, Johanna increased the theft collection rate from 32% to 66%. She revised Revenue Protection policies & procedures, implemented a successful name fraud program and designed an implemented a company-wide meter sealing program. Johanna is certified as a Utility Theft & Fraud Investigator, Interviewer & Interrogator and Law Enforcement Photographer. Johanna is past chairperson of NURPA and a past board member of IURPA.

This seminar, conducted by Arnett Consulting Services, is designed to provide guidance and training to utility personnel in identifying, combating and reducing the non-technical unaccounted for revenue losses associated with defective equipment, unmetered services, billing errors, theft of service and fraud.

The seminar is structured to provide participants with the information necessary to identify non-technical losses, correct incidents of malfunctioning equipment, conduct effective investigations, calculate, rebill and recover the otherwise lost revenue as well as determine future expected revenues associate with the conditions uncovered.

All revenue recovery personnel, customer service representatives, meter testing personnel, meter reading personnel, wiring inspectors, and meter service personnel associated with the identification, billing and recovery of unaccounted for energy losses will benefit from attendance at this seminar.

Management personnel from all functional areas interested in enhancing their awareness of the non-technical loss problems facing utilities will also benefit from attendance at this seminar.

Participants in this seminar will learn state-of-the-art techniques in identifying and effectively reducing unaccounted for energy losses, which directly affects each utility’s profitability.

You will learn the steps required to effectively conduct unaccounted for energy investigations including determining the amount of the loss, interviewing the customer, case documentation, photography, evidence control, effective witness testimony and much more.

Several methods of calculating lost revenue and future expected revenue will be discussed in addition to information on successful collection techniques.

Revenue losses associated with the false applications for service (fraud) will be covered along with policies and procedures that can be implemented to combat this problem.

REGISTRATION FEES

Early registration (prior to October 22, 2000) for this three-day seminar is as follows:

$625 per participant

$575 per participant for 2-4 persons from the same utility

$500 per participant for 5+ persons from the same utility

Late registration (after October 22, 2000) will be $725 per participant

Registration fees include a training manual, coffee breaks and lunch. Upon successful completion of the examination, given at the end of the training seminar, participants will be awarded a Certificate of Completion that is certified by IURPA and 2.4 CEU’s. Sessions begin at 8:00 am and end at approximately 5:00 pm.

CANCELLATIONS

ACS reserves the right to cancel this seminar in the event of “Acts of God” or instructor unavailability. ACS may also cancel 30 days prior to the training date in the event of insufficient registrations. if cancellation occurs, all fees paid will be returned to the participants.

Participant substitutions may be made at any time up to the start of the training session. Registration fees paid will be refunded for participant cancellation up to October 22, 2000. REFUNDS REQUESTED AFTER THE OCTOBER 22ND DATE WILL BE CHARGED A $100 CANCELLATION FEE.
