The Guilderland Police Department in conjunction with the Watervliet Arsenal Police Department will be hosting the NEWEST ALERRT Active Shooter Program – “Active Attack Integrated Response (AAIR) Train the Trainer Course.”

Times: 0745 Registration & Check in, 0800-1700 daily

Class Size: 42Students

25 Law Enforcement, 15 Fire / EMS, and 2 Dispatch per class.

***Students selected to attend must instruct one of the follow on classes co-taught with the ALERRT Instructors either 7 & 8 May 2018 or 9 & 10 May 2018. In addition, you must participate as an instructor in one of the indirect 2 day classes. Dates for the 2 day classes are: 4 & 5 June, 6 & 7 June, 9 & 10 July, 16 & 17 July,

30 & 31 July, 6 & 7 August, 2018

Participants must be state certified law enforcement, fire, Tele-communicator or EMS providers.

EMS providers should be EMT-B certified (preferably EMT-I or EMT-P)

It is recommended that participants complete the following FEMA courses:

IS-100, IS 300, IS 400 and IS-700

Course Description:

The Active Attack Integrated Response Train the Trainer Course is the NEWEST addition to the ALERRT active shooter training program. It is a 40 hour performance level direct delivery course designed to improve integration between law enforcement, fire, tele-communicator and emergency medical services (EMS) in active attack / shooter events. The course provides law enforcement officers with key medical skills based on tactical emergency casualty care (TECC) guidelines, which can be used at the point of injury (POI) to increase survivability of victims. The course also provides a model framework for law enforcement, fire, and EMS to integrate responses during an active attack / shooter event through the rescue task force concept. The course has been designed to improve the safety and survivability of victims of active attack / shooter events and increase effectiveness,coordination, and resource integration between law enforcement, fire, tele communications and EMS when responding to these events.

Audience: To attend this course, you must be a certified Police/Peace Officer, or eligible Military Personnel, who is authorized to carry a firearm in the course of his/her duties. You must also be a U.S. citizen or have prior approval. The Guilderland Police Department, the Watervliet Arsenal and ALERRT reserve the right to determine eligibility for this course. A 100% identification check will be conducted prior to entering post.

Although not required every day for training, ALL participants are required to bringtheir duty belt, ballistic vest, gloves,and long sleeve shirt or jacket to class each session.

Officer-issued weapons, both primary and secondary, are not required for this course.

Each officer is responsible for properly securing his or her weapon(s) during the training course. No personal or agency weapon (including impact and less-than-lethal devices), live ammunition, weapon magazines, or flash bangs are to be on the officer or in the training area (including classroom) at any time during this course. A weapons storage area at the Watervliet Arsenal is available for your use.

A COMPLETE SAFETY CHECK WILL BE DONE PRIOR TO EACH SESSION.

This course is comprised of several activities requiring physical exertion. This includes extensive walking, jogging, and standing, as well as, the negotiation of stairwells between multiple floor levels. Some of this activity may be conducted in low-light conditions. Accordingly, every student should be aware of this and consider self-exclusion if he/she has concerns about his/her physical condition or suffers from any health or other physical abnormality that may place him/her at risk during periods of significant physical exertion.

ALERRT will provide the training equipment necessary for participation and completion of this course.

The ALERRT – AAIR- TTT class will be held at the Watervliet Arsenal, 1 Buffington St, Watervliet, NY 12189 BLDG 40-1 (Second Floor Class Room). POLICE, or FIRE, or EMS ID IS REQUIRED IN ORDER TO BE PERMITTED ONTO THE INSTALLATION.
