Advanced Aviation Maintenance Managers Course (A2M2), referred to as ‘A’ Squared ‘M’ Squared, is the continuum of a training replacement course for the Senior Maintenance Officer Course which went by the wayside, due to a lack of throughput and curricula obsolescence. In a world of fiscal constraints where travel budgets were shrinking, a dedicated trip to Milton for short-term training no longer made sense. So, wah-lah! We have the creation of A2M2.

This new course uses a graduate level presentation approach. It is a hybrid course, where reading materials and references are placed online (eLearning) and a threaded discussion is conducted on NKO. No brick and mortar and no TAD fund expenditures.

The Facilitator works directly with the AMDO and LDO Detailers to identify candidates for the class. The target audience is the LCDR/04 population. The ideal candidate to attend would be a person identified immediately prior to their 04 sea tour IM1/CAGMO/L CLASS MO/Squadron AMO. While we are trying to get all 04’s through the class, it is likely that - an -individual on shore duty may have better connectivity and possibly the time to dedicate. A highly motivated and recommended LT/03 will also be a welcomed addition to the class, as long as they have a diverse background and a few tours under their belt. Once contacted, availability is confirmed, and the class is formed.

Once the class is formed, details are passed via email. A calendar detailing the course’s deliverables deadlines and discussion thread posting schedule, is one of the key documents. Also, an administrative document outlining the course guidelines and expectations is also sent. A third document sent is a power point presentation to help navigate - the course material and discussion board. I am also available throughout the course to help resolve problems and answer any questions. Here is a basic description of the course and your commitment:

Course will be 6 weeks online and will require on average 1-1.5 HOURS per day - five days a week to complete. There -are three, 1 page topic papers to write and 17/18 postings on NKO (approximatly1-3 paragraphs in length or as much as it takes for you to put coherent thoughts into a threaded discussion with your peers).

The course is interactive and is hosted on NKO/eLearning. Students are not required to be online at a specified time, but must be able to access the course at least once every other day in order to keep up with the curriculum. I will function as the facilitator for the class. The course content is as follows:

- Administrative Procedures and Life Cycle Management

- Aviation Maintenance Resource Management

- Information and Data Systems

- Deployment Management

- Human Resource Management

- Facilities/Asset Management

- Activity Performance Assessment

- Marine Corps Aviation Logistics -Support Program
