ADVANCED AGRICULTURAL WORKER

A DFI merit award for an outstanding performance by an advanced agricultural worker in a managerial or supervisory role on a deciduous fruit farm or administration office

OBJECTIVE
The Deciduous Fruit Industries and ARC Infruitec-Nietvoorbij’s merit award for an advanced agricultural worker in a managerial or supervisory roleis annually awarded to a worker who had continuously excelled in his/her daily performance during the period 1 July 2016 to 30 June 2017.
The main purpose of this award is to motivate agriculturaland administration office managers:
•To live their dream and realise their full potential within a farm and office management setup;
•To take responsibility and make independent decisions that can improve his / her daily tasks on the farm or office;
•To be responsible for his / her actions and decisions on the farm or office and towards subordinates;
•To have pride in her / himself and respect colleagues and the farm owner;
•To assist owner with strategic inputs.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Finalists will be selected on the basis of a personal interview by the judges to test the motivation received: / Motivations must contain:
  • Evidence/Proof of exceptional inputs or strategic decisionsduring the above period
  • Theimpact of these inputs or decisions on the sustainability and economic growth of the farm
  • Proof of acceptability and recognition as supervisor/manager by co-workers and owner
The nominee must have the ability to communicate the content of the above motivation with the judges.
HOW TO ENTER?
Owner or top management on a deciduous fruit farm and ARC Infruitec-Nietvoorbij have to submit the motivation for his/hernomineecontaining the criteria as stipulated for this competition for the period from 1 Julyto 30 June of each year.
The closing date is 21 July 2017. No late entries will be accepted!

JUDGING
The entries and nominations will be judged by a committee confederated by the organisers.
The judges will be chosen in terms of their knowledge of the fruit industry.
Judging will take place during beginning of August.
The decision of the judges is final.

The competition is open to all deciduous fruit farms owners of regions in South Africa and the ARC Infruitec-Nietvoorbij.
Previous winners may enter again.
Farm owners in each participating deciduous fruit region and ARC Infruitec-Nietvoorbij have to submit a motivation for his/hernomineecontaining the criteria as stipulated for this competition for the period from 1 July to 30 Juneof each year.
The deciduous fruit industries maintain the right to postpone or conclude the competition due to unforeseen circumstances.
The organisers are willing to assist the finalists with any travelling and accommodation arrangements.
