Opening Prayer – ‘Open to God’s Mercy’Prayer

Topics:

1)Current Events/Topics:

  1. Presentation by Julie Van Brocklin
  2. Julie presented to the group a 6-week study on the Catholic Faith. The study comes from the Confirmation series by Matthew Kelley. While this series is geared for high-school age, Julie is proposing that we adapt/offer it for adults who want to learn more about their faith.
  3. After discussion, the group decided to offer the program to Assumption parishioners. It will be offered on Sunday evenings (specific time to be determined), starting with Lent and end on Divine Mercy Sunday (Spring 2017). FYI: Easter is April 16, 2017.
  4. Julie offered to facilitate the meetings when it does not conflict with Confirmation classes.
  5. Need a name for this study; Julie/committee to continue brainstorming for good name.
  6. Julie will need help with Setup/Facilitators for the break-out sessions; as well as marketing.
  7. Bible Study Topics:
  8. Study of the Mass Series: Committee members are continuing to review materials.
  9. Purchased and received 30 copies of the student materials
  10. Confirmed starting the week of September 18.

(a)Offering 4 classes: Sunday evening at 7:00 pm; Monday morning at 8:30 am; Wednesday evenings at 5:00 and 7:00 pm

  1. Non-Catholics are invited to attend; will not charge for materials per our commitment
  1. Future Bible Study Sessions: The group will need to review the proposed order of future BibleStudy session due to the addition of Julie’s study in the Spring of 2017.
  2. Lighthouse Series: Father Dominic agreed that this is a good idea.
  3. Group discussed logistics; needs further discussion.
  4. Ramona to further investigate and get back to the group at the next meeting.
  1. Year of Mercy: Events the committee will help promote/sponsor:
  2. Christ Our Life Conference to be held September 24-25. Lisa is the parish representative for the conference. She would like help selling tickets to the event and general promotion.
  3. 54-Day Novena starting August 15 through October 7
  4. Novena to be offered before/after all masses and every evening at 6:30 pm. The group finalized proposed group leaders for each of the evening sessions: Monday/Tuesday: CHRP (Deacon Tom to contact CHRP Teams); Wednesday: AFF member; Thursday: CWC (Jane to contact CWC-Done); Friday: KC (Tom L. to contact KC-Done).
