Adult Education Instructor

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A Bachelor’s Degree from a nationally accredited institution.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor’s degree concentration in Education or closely related field
  • Experienced in using Microsoft Word and Excel in day to day operations.
  • Previous experience in secondary and/or postsecondary education.
  • A minimum of three years full-time, paid, in-field teaching/work experience in education, business, industry, or military environments within the past seven years.

  • Self-motivation skills
  • Ability to adapt instructional material to fit all learning styles
  • Ability to maintain accurate records
  • Knowledge of effective instructional methods for adult learners
  • Knowledge of community needs within Service Delivery Area

The successful applicant will be responsible for overall classroominstruction in areas includingremedial education, developmental classes, and Adult Education that focuses on participants obtaining their General Education Diploma (GED).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction and obtains or prepares instructional materials for classroom use;
  2. Provides learner guidance to students;
  3. Evaluates students’ ongoing progress and performance in attaining goals and objectives;
  4. Promotes the adult education program to public and private organizations through the Service Delivery Area of the college;
  5. Participates in EAGLE competition;
  6. Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports;
  7. Plans, organizes and participates in staff development and team conference;
  8. Maintains a secure classroom environment;
  9. Recruits, supervises and directs classroom volunteers. Coordinates schedule for teacher substitutes and volunteers;
  10. Assists with recruitment, retention and job placement efforts;
  11. Participates in required staff development activities;
  12. Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Adult Education.

SALARY:

$18/hour. This is a part time position with no benefit package.
