ADULT BASIC EDUCATION CLASSROOM AIDES

Part-Time

RATE OF PAY: Starting hourly pay is $9.74 (no degree); $10.25 (AA degree); $11.28 (BA/BS), paid twice monthly per time and leave reporting (TLR) on the 10th and 25th of each month. Degree will be verified on official transcripts.
WORK SCHEDULE: Approximately 5 to 12 hours per week, days and/or evenings

We are updating the pool ofapplicants for part-time Adult Basic Education Classroom Aides in Grant and Adams Counties. We may have job openings in Moses Lake, Othello, Royal City, Warden, Soap Lake, Mattawa, George, Grand Coulee and Quincy.

Big Bend Community College is a rural community college located in the sunny, central part of Washington State and accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities. POSITION SUMMARY:

The Adult Basic Education Classroom Aide will assist the instructor in the daily activities of the Adult Basic Education Classroom.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Primary essential duties and responsibilities include but will not be limited to the following:

  • Assist students individually or in small groups with assigned work.
  • Assist in administering CASAS tests to students.
  • Assist in the collection and maintenance of required student records, attendance, test scores, and achievement records.
  • Assist the instructor in promoting intercultural awareness and sensitivity in the classroom.
  • Provide feedback to the instructor regarding student needs or classroom conditions.
  • Attend all required training and meetings.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • High school graduate or GED required.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Strong basic math skills.
  • Previous experience with computer applications such as Microsoft Office.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience tutoring or assisting in an adult setting
  • Bilingual fluency, especially in Spanish
  • Demonstrated bicultural experience
