1. Why are you interested in working in our lab?
2. In order to conduct research, possessing a foundation of knowledge in the subject area of interest is important. Please detail any previous coursework, work experience, or personal experiences that you feel have prepared you for working as a research assistant in our lab. Specifically address whether you have taken any of the following courses: HD 2830, HD 4750, PSYCH 3500, PSYCH 4910.
3. A significant proportion of the work that occurs in our lab involves statistical analysis. As a prime example, there are many factors that could lead to depression in adolescents. How can we discover what does or does not contribute to depression? Statistical analysis allows us to dig into complex data and tease out the various components influencing individual development.
a) Please share any previous experience you have with statistical data analysis, coding, and/or research methods. If you do not have any previous experience in these areas, include any future coursework you intend to take and/or your interest in learning about these topics.
b) What are some research questions that you are interested in answering with statistical analysis? (We don’t expect a full proposal for a research study here, just a sense of what research topics you’re interested in and how you would think about using statistics to address them!)
