FWA OCTOBER 2017 Report

ADMINISTRATIVE TEAM and Capacity Building

Anne Hutchinson, the new African Great Lakes Initiatives (AGLI) fundraiser, visited Friends Women’s Association (FWA) to learn more about FWA programs on the ground.

ACTIVITIES

During the month of October 2017, the activities done were about READY, RSS, CHIVPP and IWRH projects

READY

As part of the READY project, different services were offered in the following logic:

28 teenagers from the target group, including 19 female and 9 male, underwent voluntary testing and received information about HIV/AIDS through pre and post-test counseling.We had 9 young female people from the target group (age between 10 and 19 years) for family planning and related information.

Rape Survivors’ Support (RSS)

Two self-help groups are still functioning. Home visits and medical care were provided to our RSS beneficiaries.

Caring for HIV Positive People (CHIVPP)

During this month of October 2017, medical follow up, nutritional support and home visits were done for our HIV positive people. One discussion group was done.

Improving Women’s Reproductive Health (IWRH)

FWA health accompanists have continued to sensitize people to attend NTASEKA clinic for birth control and HIV voluntary test.

Action on Gender-Based Violence (AGBV)

In October 2017, evaluation was done to know how 25 community elected leaders are doing in their different communities to address the issue of GBV after one year of training.

CONSULTATIONS

8 cases were consulted by our doctor. The nurse received 286 patients including 183 adults and 103 children.

In the month of October 2017, apart from voluntary testing, there were a total of 204tests.

FAMILY PLANNING

252 people received contraceptives from FWA’s nurse. 231 received the contraceptive injection and 21were given pills.96 people received 2310 male condoms.

ARV SITE

At the end of October 2017, we had 190 patients under retro drugs followed at NTASEKA clinic, including 150 women and 40 men.

PHARMACY

FWA had all necessary medicines for the month of October 2017.

PSYCHOSOCIAL TEAM

In the month of October 2017, a total of 224 people received pre and post HIV test counseling and were tested for HIV; 53% of them were women and among the 18 people detected HIV positive, 16 were women with 8% of seropositivity.
