Project/Program/Event / Description
Major Gifts Program / To accomplish objectives in major gifts and gift planning work, we need a cultivation program that informs and educates prospects, that communicates with them regularly and that involves them directly in the life of our organization. Major Gifts and Gift Planningare all about building relationships with our donors. It requires establishing personal links between the donor and our organization that is reinforced by trust, credibility and shared belief and commitment. Our cultivations program must allow for customization and acknowledge individual peculiarity.
Manage revenue from major gifts program through cultivation,
Solicitation and stewardship of major gift donors. The Major Gifts program manages a caseload of 150 donors through a “Moves Management Chart”. Each individual donor is reviewed and strategic directives planned.
Cultivating prospects is a personalized time-intensive process that aims to accomplish the following objectives:
Identification
To help identify the best prospects for planned gifts to our organization.
Information
To inform prospective donors about our organization so they understand who we are, what we wish toaccomplish and why we are worthy of their support.
Interest
To stimulate prospects' interest and provide them opportunities to learn more about our institution.
Involvement
To involve prospects directly with our charity by establishing and consistently strengthening theirlinks to our organization, particularly through their relationships with its officers and volunteers.
Investment
To ask prospects to invest in our organization, working with them to develop gift plans that serve their financial and philanthropic objectives while helping our organization achieve its financial goals.
Matching Gifts Program / A matching gift is a donation made by an employer that matches the amount of an employee’s gift. Depending on the matchinggift strategy that a company hasestablished, it may match an employee’s gift dollar for dollar – or in multiples – resulting in a much larger, more impactful gift.Manage the revenue under this program by promoting it through our tax receipts, website, and Chamber of Commerce listing.
Grant Proposal Submissions / An aspect of the major gifts program, grant proposal submissions are usually made on-line to private and public foundations. This submissions require extensive research of the foundation, its mandate and criteria.
Hospital / Foundation
Board of Directors Giving / As major stakeholders of the organization and Foundation, the Board of Directors are an integral and vital part of the team. Our goal each year is for 100% participation from all its volunteer members.
Business & Community Gifts / This program is geared mainly at small businesses in our community. It’s an opportunity to solicit this group through a direct mail appeal. New businesses and existing are actively solicited on a quarterly basis. Gifts under the $2,500 level fall under this category.
Monthly Donor Program / The monthly donor program allows donors to give on a monthly basis. The gift is made automatically every month either by credit card or directly from the donor’s bank account.
The monthly gift can be directed to the area of highest need through the "Fund for Better Care" or to one of ourother designated funds. As well, you can either honour or memorialize an individual through monthly giving. Donors find this a very convenient and easy manner in which to give to our charity.
Once an individual becomes a monthly donor, they are now considered “Friends Forever” and receive special perks such as an invitation to our annual Donor Appreciation Reception, invitations to events, the Foundation’s E-Newsletter and planned giving newsletter, as well as receiving at year-end, a copy of our annual report.
Gift Planning /
Building a Bridge to the Future Legacy Society / This is a special element of the Gift Planning Program. It’s the next stage of the giving cycle that major gift donors will grow to.
Gift Planning for the Sault Area Hospital means looking after your loved ones and remembering the charities you care about during your lifetime. This is a very personal decision, requiring thoughtful discussion with the donor, their family and personal financial advisor.
The Building a Bridge to the Future Legacy Society was created tohonour and recognize those individuals who have shown exceptional generosity and interest in the future of our Hospital.
Membership into the Legacy Society is granted upon notification of the existence of a bequest in your will, as beneficiary of a life insurance, securities, or retirement fund policy, or have arranged for an annuity, trust or other residual interest gift.
Donors are recognized on our Legacy Society wall, if they give approval.
Estates & Bequests / Bequest donations received are tracking under our Gift Planning Program. Each year, the Foundation is the recipient of several bequest donations. There are several ways that a donor can make a planned gift to the Foundation:
  • Bequests
  • Life Insurance
  • RRSP / RRIF
  • Gift of Securities
  • Mutual Funds / Stocks
  • Charitable Gift Annuities
These types of gifts provide a commitment of a donor’s on-going support to keep the hospital’s future strong and secure.
Volunteer Program / The Foundation has various fundraising and reception events, special projects, office administrative duties which volunteers are a large part of. We welcome and encourage volunteers to join our team.
