Walk Through Tools

The walk through and survey tools were originally designed by Seattle Public Schools to be used in schools, although they could be used as a starting point for other types of organization. They are all based on Relationships, Relevance, Rigor, and Results or the "4 R's" of culturally responsive environments.

The Survey of the Environmentis designed for anyone who would like to examine the school's physical environment (teachers, administrators, staff, parents, students, etc.).
The Observer Assessmentis designed for an observer in the classroom to give feedback to a teacher.
The Teacher Evaluationis intended for teachers to evaluate themselves and set personal goals for improving their cultural competency. The results of their survey are for their own use and not intended to be shared with anyone else.
The Secondary School and Elementary School Student Surveys correlate directly with the teacher survey in order for teachers to compare their students' perceptions with their own. These are for the teacher’s personal use. Direct students not to sign their names to these surveys.
