I am applying for an Engagement Manager position with McKinsey & Company SE Asia Inc. I believe that my extensive South East Asian experience, successful entrepreneurial venture, and demonstrated leadership will enable me to quickly become an excellent asset to one of your regional offices.
I first traveled to Southeast Asia in 1999, a visit which sparked my fascination with the people, culture and remarkable economic growth underway in the region. Since that time, much of my study and work has been focused in Asia. I received a Bachelor of Commerce in Economics from(name of top school). I leveraged the combination of my economics degree and knowledge of business information systems to begin a private consulting practice, enabling businesses to evaluate internal processes and implement efficiency solutions. After introducing several new technologies to Garguon Capital, an Asia-Pacific focused private equity fund, the firm’s partner group offered me a position, first overseeing the due diligence process for new projects, subsequently integrating newly acquired companies into the business, and finally taking over as President of the firm. I have consistently demonstrated the ability to quickly understand new businesses and industries to develop rapid, data-driven strategies and implementation plans to drive successful operational changes. For example, I recently developed and implemented a strategy to improve the profitability and efficiency of a middle-market Japanese automotive manufacturer to prepare it for an upcoming IPO.
