Added Duty Contract Responsibilities

Technology Vision Statement:
If technology is to realize its powerful potential for expanding and enhancing instruction in the North Slope Borough School District, it must be used for more than just automating the traditional methods and practices of teaching. Within this context, we believe that technology is a tool for learning that expands our instructional repertoire and is a vehicle that can enhance instructional delivery, enrich student performance, and increase student engagement.
NSBSD Site Technologists are responsible for the following items:

______1)  Collect all signed Staff Technology Use Agreement Forms (online form is stored online and sent to Site Tech via email), and signed Student Laptop Agreement Forms (paper copies). Work with site administrator to ensure that all forms are signed and returned.

a  Keep a copy of all signed forms.

b  The Site Technologist will keep the copies of the above forms in a secure location at the site.

______2)  Complete and pass Phase 3 of the Teacher Technology Competencies no later than February 16, 2015. Failure to complete Phase 3 Technology Competencies will result in a 30% loss of pay of the Site Technologist stipend. Current and former Site Techs who do not complete tech competencies will not be eligible for this position in the ensuing year. They may reapply the following year after completion of all tech competencies.

______3)  Attend and participate in district-wide tech committee meetings as scheduled and share information and resources with colleagues as requested.

______4)  Provide on-site maintenance for all computers, printers, scanners, all associated devices, as well as site technology infrastructure (school website, Video Teleconferencing Center (VTC) cart, connections, cables, routers, etc.)

a  All computers and monitors in the school should be either fully functional, awaiting parts or software; or packaged for shipment to repair.

b  All scanners, printers, and other external devices should be connected and functional or awaiting parts or software.

c  All computers will be mapped to all necessary printers.

d  Perform server maintenance (e.g., power ups) as needed.

e  The Site Tech will support the associated use and maintenance for the VTC in accordance with NSBSD IT protocols.

______5)  Be available to support district-wide inservices, and videoconferences using the VTC and other distance conferencing solutions as scheduled.

______6)  Maintain school web site, including;

a  Training others in web page development.

b  Filtering inappropriate content of posted web pages.

c  Making sure FERPA guidelines are followed before any material is published (electronic or paper.)

d  Updating and keeping current the following: School Calendar, School Events Announcements, Pictures, and Staff Profiles as directed by principal.

______7)  Maintain familiarity with applications on the NSBSD network and be able to train others.

______8)  Communicate site needs regarding technology to InfoTech/EdTech

______9)  Train the entire staff in the setup, use and troubleshooting of the Video Teleconference Center (VTC) equipment, SMART Boards, scanners, and other peripheral devices as needed.

______10)  At least twice each week, offer training and support time (minimum of an hour) outside of school hours, or by agreement of the parties, to help teachers attain the Technology Competencies in all 3 Phases. Electronically send a copy of the training notifications (which includes dates offered) to Danna Wheeldon, District Instructional Technology Coach [.

a  Integrate time/training offered to teachers to students to assist them with projects specific to District iDidaContest.

b  Be available during the training to model, support and/or teach the concepts found in the proficiencies. Be available to supervise a student technology assistant(s) should one become available at your site.

______11)  At the end of the year, inventory all computers and peripherals (including staff laptops) and complete all paperwork associated with inventory as per the end of year checkout. Store computers/peripherals in the secured location determined by the Plant Manager and all computers in need of repair sent in to InfoTech.

______12)  Serve as an advocate for:

a  development of student and staff entries in the District-Wide iDidaContest (iPhotos, iMovies, iPodcasts, iDocumentaries)

b  responsible technology use/Digital Citizenship among all staff and students

c  regular technology integration into classroom instruction in every grade level and content area

d  constantly increasing the technology proficiency of all students and staff

______13)  Assure the Student Laptop Distribution plan and associated procedures (attached) are followed. Communicate suggestions for modifications to Cathy Anderegg, Director of Educational Technology.

Final Note: To meet the terms of the Information Technology Site Tech/ Added Duty Contract you are expected to fulfill the terms of this agreement in addition to your regular duty day.

·  Mid-Year a copy (signed by principal) goes to HR. End of Year, a copy (signed by principal) goes HR.
