Sandy’s storm waters surged into Manhattan, heralding a new21stcentury reality. Bike with us to explore both the aftermath and resiliency solutions generated on the LES, East Village and East River Park that respond to the realities of climate change.This thought-provoking ride is part ofClimate Week NYCand the10 Days of Climate Action. Bring your own bike or use Bike Share on this free, easy ride.
This Lower East Ride includes discussion of practical responses that increase livability as well as long term planning for a more resilient NYC. Speakers include WendyBrawerof Green Map System, Charles Komanoff of Komanoff Energy Associates, Jessica Brunici, climate researcher and Ray Sage of Alpha Bee City Honey.
“Participants can take home copies of the printed Lower East Ride Green Map in English or Spanish,” said Wendy Brawer, Green Map’s director. “This map can be explored interactively or downloaded at Facebook.com/lower.east.ride for a self-guided tour too”.The Chinese edition will be available in October, benefiting community members and visitors. Supported by project partner, Partnerships for Parks, printed Green Maps are available free in postcard and poster formats.
