Please listwhat efforts your tribe will be engaged in between now and July 2011 to substantially implement the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA), as well as any efforts your tribe has been engaged in since a first extension was granted to your tribelast year, by providing the information requested below.

Your responses may be submitted in a separate document and submitted as an attachment to this extension request. Please also feel free to attach relevant materials that you would like the SMART Office to consider in support of your request.

  1. Please describe any proposed or planned legislative activity that will assist your tribe to implement SORNA.
  1. If you will be establishing a sex offender registry and public website for your tribe, what system will you be using (i.e., TTSORS, Offender Watch, etc.)? Please tell us the status of your implementation of this system.
  1. Please list any administrative, policy and/or procedural updates that your tribehas implemented or is planning to implement to expand information sharing regarding registered sex offenders to other relevant agencies inside and outside of your tribe.
  1. Please describe any collaborations that you have adopted or will be adopting with other Indian tribes or with states/countiesas part of your efforts towards substantial implementation of SORNA.
  1. Please provide the status of efforts by your tribe to collect and submit the following: (a) fingerprints and palm prints to IAFIS; (b) DNA submissions to CODIS; and (c) data submissions to NCIC/NSOR. (If you are experiencing difficulty with these efforts please provide details).

On behalf of the above-referenced tribe, I hereby request a one-year extension of time to comply with the requirements of Title I of the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act of 2006, the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act, from July 26, 2010 to July 26, 2011.

Jurisdictions must complete the form and return it to the SMART Office no later than July 1, 2010, to allow the SMART Office sufficient time to approve the request before the July 27, 2010, deadline. However, if your jurisdiction plans to submit an application for grant funding in response to the SMART FY 2010 Support for Adam Walsh Act Implementation Grant solicitation, please note that an extension request must be submitted by April 26, 2010, as a condition of the grant application.
