By Kate Miller, Media Intern

OKLAHOMA CITY — Tanner Taylor of the Adair FFAChapter earned first-place honors in the 2018Oklahoma FFAAgricultural Sales Placement Proficiency Award area during the 92nd Oklahoma FFA Convention May 2.

Dixie Boyce-Smith of the Cheyenne FFA Chapter and Lexi Leamon of the Mangum FFA Chapter earned second- and third-place honors, respectively.

Taylor said he began working at B-5 Show Supplies, a traveling show supplies retailer, due to his own interest in the show livestock industry and what goes into the final exhibition.

“Through selling these products I have been able to learn how to attractively market inventory,” Taylor said. “This knowledge will better prepare me to market my own future agricultural business.”

Taylor said he researches new products, handles inventory, and manages sales records in order to bring the right product to the customers at shows, which gives him an advantage over large supply companies.

Students also may own businesses involving the sales of agricultural equipment, machinery or structures.
