All the activities are training coursesaimed at improvers who MUST be comfortable ON and INthe water. Buoyancy aids will be worn

Canoe & Kayak. This is a two-day course using the BCU Paddlepower syllabus to work towards the Scout Paddle Sport staged activity badge (Stage 2 up).

Powerboating.This two-day entry level course provides the skills and background knowledge needed to take charge of a powerboat and will follow the RYA Powerboating syllabus. It will be mostly based off site on the River Severn.

Please note we will not be awarding badges, but will provide a recommendation as to the level attended for each participant.

Camping. We will be camping at Upton Warren Outdoor Centre; you will need to bring your own tents. Access will be available from 18:00.

Catering.The Activate Team will be catering for all participants and leaders who assist the team. Catering will cover Saturday Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner and Sunday Breakfast & Lunch. Hot and cold drinks will be available from Friday evening.

Leaders are welcome to come along but must be willing to perform a role (on the water, driving, catering, evening activities,etc.)

Participant Cost £50includes Activities, Camping & Food

Leader Cost £20 includes Camping & Food

Bookings: Applications will only be accepted with the attached form and full payment.

Equipment Required by ALL Participants: Windproof top (Cagoule), Clothes to get wet in (including footwear – no boots or wellies), dry clothes, towel, flask, eating utensils, tent, sleeping bag. Wetsuits are optional.

Other Activate Water Events

Lake Sessions, Tuesday evenings in May – July. Canoe / Kayak Courses aimed at Cubs, Brownies, Scouts, Guides, and Explorer Scouts aged 8 to 18. These sessions are held at Upton Warren.You can also bring your own equipment and run your own sessions. The lake is classified asB1 water, therefore the activity will need to be led by a permit holder. Changing facilities will be available.

Leader Permit Training(June 11 /July 16). Two separate days aimed at anybody looking to work towards a Canoe or Kayaking Leadership or Personal Permit.
