Professional Learning Goal: Providing efficient and effective feedback for learning (collaboratively decided by admin and teachers)

Related Student Learning Targets (initially, decided by teachers; later could be decided by teacher) / PLC Plan
(action steps should be decided collaboratively by admin and teachers; resources needed could be decided by anyone)
Action Steps / Resources Needed
·  I can use feedback to revise and improve my work. / ·  Review principles of feedback for learning
·  Teach students about feedback
·  Our learning cycle, all of the following steps take place within the PLC, unless otherwise noted:
o  Select a lesson for which this kind of feedback is appropriate
o  Examine student work and provide feedback
o  Return work and feedback to students, allowing time for revision (performed in classroom)
o  Collecting revised student work to analyze and identify evidence of growth in student understanding
o  If the feedback didn’t have the desired effect, then reexamine:
§  PLC participants’ understanding of feedback principles
§  Clarity of feedback to students
§  Classroom and instructional supports provided to students when revising their work
o  Repeat until the desired effect is consistent / ·  7 Strategies
·  Mindset: Fixed/ Growth
·  Shirley Clarke’s books
While this doesn’t apply to this professional learning goal, there are some goals for which the evidence of success should be gathered by live observation. If this is the case, consider how colleagues might cover classes and do peer observations, including a debriefing session.
Evidence of Success (collaboratively decided by admin and teachers): How will you know that you/ the PLC is making progress? Is the kind of evidence you intend to collect appropriately matched to the professional learning goal you selected?
Revised student work, after the teacher has provided feedback for learning. The revised work should show evidence of improvement and should be a consistent outcome when providing this feedback.
This evidence is appropriate because all of the desired effects can be captured on the student work, no observation needed.

What CHETL does the professional learning goal stem from?

( this could be decided upon by both admin and teachers)
