Act As a Centre of Expertise to the Business for the Data Lifecycle, Working Collaboratively

  • Act as a centre of expertise to the business for the data lifecycle, working collaboratively with colleagues to overcome legacy practices to drive improvements in data quality, ensuring it is fit for current and future business purpose.
  • Develop an organisational culture where data is treated as a key asset; maximising the coverage, relevance and accuracy of the data Catalyst holds and manages.
  • Proactively increase the knowledge and maturity within the business regarding the importance of data, creating and delivering data governance training, education and awareness events and materials to educate colleagues and promote a culture of effective data management
  • Work with colleagues to identify key data sets, carrying out relevant risk assessments and providing recommendations for improvement.
  • Establish master data governance, including identifying data stewards throughout the organisation and working with them to develop appropriate policies and procedures related to the handling of data, both internally and externally.
  • Actively engage with colleagues throughout the organisation to ensure that data is properly defined, collected, verified, stored, maintained and disposed of, in accordance with Catalyst’s policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to define and implement data strategy, principles, policies, controls and programs to ensure enterprise data is accurate, complete, secure and reliable.
  • Develop Catalyst’s conceptual data model to support an enterprise-wide understanding of data.
  • Understand, document and improve Catalyst’s current logicaldata model to support master data management and end-to-end business data flows.
  • Identify opportunities to drive value from data more effectively through data architecture changes, database development & data tools.
  • Represent data governance on strategic projects, ensuring that data principles and requirements are adhered to and that maximum business benefit is realised
  • Ensure that the handling of information is streamlined and automated where possible.
  • Develop, lead and deliver a robust data control and validation framework, ensuring this is well documented byestablishing and maintaining Catalyst’s data dictionary.
  • Define measurements and metrics to monitor data quality and develop targets for achievable data quality standards, producing and sharing reports and ensuring they are acted upon
  • Provide oversight of data process audits, ensuring that processes are adequate.
  • Implement continuous improvement within the data management environment through integrating lessons learnt after changes are implemented.
  • Improve data security in partnership with the information security team
About you:
  • Passionate and uncompromising about data quality
  • Proven and successful track record in data governance and associated data management principles and practices.
  • Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline and/or extensive experience in data governance and management, coupled with evidence of continuous professional development.
  • Broad knowledge of data management methods and tools, with specific expertise in data governance and data quality approaches and technologies
  • Methodical, high attention to detail, excellent problem solving skills and a creative, innovative, customer focused and results-orientated approach.
  • Able to foster ownership and accountability in others, at all levels in an organisation.
  • Exceptional influencing and negotiation skills, able to challenge constructively and drive fundamental shifts in existing beliefs and behaviours to deliver positive change.
  • Able to work in matrixed environments and to build and sustain collaborative working relationships with stakeholders throughout the organisation.
  • A confident presenter with excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills to suit a variety of audiences; with the ability to translate complex business issues / analytics into simple messages.
  • Able to demonstrate an up-to-date understanding of new and emerging technologies relating to data governance and management.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate colleagues, acquire new knowledge, innovate, quickly grasp new concepts and deliver continuous improvement to services.
  • Practical working knowledge of privacy legislation and data regulations.
