CHAMBER GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS BREAKFAST PRESENTS HANFORD SPEAKERS BUREAU

HOOD RIVER, OR— The Hood River County Chamber of Commerce will host the Hanford Speakers Bureau at their Tuesday, January 18 Government Affairs Breakfast scheduled for 7:30am at Hood River Charburger.

The Hanford Speakers Bureau is a regional outreach program whose goal is to provide timely and accurate information about the Hanford Site, while fostering dialogue with local, regional, statewide, and national audiences. Jeff Dennison will share general information about the Hanford Site cleanup activities which affect all Northwest Citizens.

The Hanford Speakers Bureau overview presentation describes Hanford’s role in the Manhattan Project (1943-1946) and cold war (1946-1989). The presentation looks at the last twenty years of cleanup activities, including the challenges the U.S. Department of Energy faces, efforts to develop and implement innovative technologies to achieve a cost effective and protective cleanup at the Hanford Site. The presentation will cover the construction of the Waste Treatment Plant, a $12.2 Billion project that will treat and dispose of the 53 million gallons of single-shell tank wastes at the Hanford Site.

The Hood River County Chamber monthly no-host Government Affairs breakfast is open to the public and generously hosted by the Hood River Charburger, located at 4100 Westcliff Drive, Hood River, 541-386-3101. Reservations are not required.
