ACHS International Medal 2015

Nomination criteria

Purpose:

To recognise an outstanding contribution by an individual to improving quality and safety internationally in a manner consistent with the mission and values of the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards:

To be the leading provider of products and services for accreditation that support performance excellence in safety and quality programs for a broad range of health service providers and consumers.

Our values are: Accountability, customer focus, excellence, integrity and teamwork.

This Medal formally recognises ACHSI’s strong connections and evolving relationships across a spectrum of health care providers in a number of regions and the expansion of its quality improvement model of accreditation in recent years.

Criteria:

Comprising any or all of the following at a recognised level, internationally:

  • Substantial achievement in research into quality and safety of health systems;
  • Distinguished leadership in quality practices;
  • Outstanding achievement in maintaining a continuous quality improvement focus in health care delivery systems; or
  • Outstanding achievement in the promotion of quality in health care.

Entitlement to nominate:

Each nomination must be supported by a member of the ACHS Council. Council members are listed on the ACHS website and may be contacted via email addressed to the ACHS Communications Manager Ian McManus at .

Format for nominations:

Nominations must be made in writing on the following form, should not exceed the length specified and should include the names and contact details of two referees as well as the name of the supporting Council member. The ACHS Board reserves the right to make independent inquiries.

Closing date:

5pm Friday 18September, 2015.

Assessment:

A panel is to be appointed by the ACHS Board and consist of three persons, including a Board member, the Chief Executive and a person with relevant expertise. The panel shall make recommendations to the Board, prioritising no more than three names from the nominations.

Award notification:

Unsuccessful award nominations will be advised in writing during September. The ACHSInternational Medal will be presented on Thursday 29October 2015 at the Joint ACHS / Annual Asia-Pacific Congress to be held in Melbourne, Victoria at the Sofitel Melbourne on Collins..
