Villers-Bretonneux (VB), Dawn Service

  1. It is planned that the VB Dawn Service will start at 13:30:00 with Opening Titles.
  2. The Service finishes with the public wreath laying which normally starts about 14:25:00.
The host broadcast will continue to cover the public wreath laying which runs for at least 10 minutes – there are multiple opportunities for broadcasters to break away during this time.

What happens if the Gallipoli Dawn Service starts late or runs long?

To assist broadcasters who plan to broadcast both Services, the following plan is in place if (due to highly unlikely and unforseen events), the Gallipoli Dawn Service is delayed or if it runs past 13:30

  1. If the Gallipoli Service finishes at or before 13:30:00 the VB Service will start at 13:30:00
  2. If the Gallipoli Service finishes after 13:30:00 but before 13:32:00, the VB Service will be delayed and start immediately the Gallipoli Service finishes
  3. If it is clear the Gallipoli Service will finish after 13:32:00 the VB Service will start at 13:30:00 and broadcasters will either have to join the VB service in progress or use their equipment to delay their playout of the VB Dawn Service.

If you wish to be advised on any last minute or unforseen changes to broadcast times or that the VB Service is to be delayed and be updated on host broadcast details please contact Alexandra Nittes the ABC Coordinator in Sydney on

Alexandra will be sending out group emails updating and confirming plans in the days leading up to Anzac Day and importantly across the day.

Due to the complexity of Alexandra’s role on the day she will most likely not be available on the phone during the broadcast.

*As with all live broadcasts this is the plan but it is subject to unforseen events. Broadcasters need to be flexible enough in their coverage to allow for unforseen and last minute changes.
