ACADEMY OF MARKETING SCIENCE

DISTINGUISHED FELLOW DESIGNATION

The Academy of Marketing Science Board of Governors established the honorary designation of "Distinguished Fellow" in 1990. The intent is to award this designation to a limited number of members (Fellows) in recognition of their exemplary service to the Academy and scholarly contributions to the advancement of marketing thought over a sustained period of time.

Distinguished Fellow designees shall be members (Fellows) in good standing of the Academy of Marketing Science. The Board of Governors document, "Eligibility, Nomination, Selection, Recognition, and Status of Distinguished Fellows" provides guidance regarding the nomination and selection processes. The designation is in perpetuity, except when specifically revoked by the Academy for cause.

Not more than three percent of the active members (Fellows) of the Academy can hold the Distinguished Fellow designation at a given time. Normally, a limited number of Fellows will be awarded the designation in a given year, within the limitation that the total number of active designees cannot exceed three percent of the Academy's active membership at that time. Designees who subsequently retire or otherwise become inactive in the Academy are not counted as part of the three percent. Selection of Distinguished Fellows is based on the recommendation of active Distinguished Fellows and confirmation by the Academy of Marketing Science Board of Governors.
