Academic Scholarship Program

The Minnesota Council of Airports (MCOA) is an organization providing member airports support services to enhance their airports. The Council has established an academic scholarship for students studying aviation management and currently enrolled at a Minnesota college or university or resides in Minnesota who is enrolled at a college or university outside the state.

The MCOA will offer two scholarshipsin 2015 to full-time students who are actively pursuing a degree or certificate in an aviation management related program. Thescholarship application is a onetime award of $1,250 dollars. The scholarship applications that are submitted will be evaluated by the appointed MCOA Academic Scholarship Committee and awarded by the Executive Board (Officers).

To be considered for the award of this scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Be enrolled in a Aviation Management Program at an accredited college or university and plan to continue to pursue a career in Aviation Management.
  1. Be a resident of the State of Minnesota if attending a college or university outside the state.
  1. Be a student in good standing in either a two or four-year Aviation Management Program management program at the time the application is submitted.
  1. Have achieved academic proficiency (grade point average) at the time of the application of 3.0 or better (based on a 4.0 system).
  1. Submit a 250 word (maximum) typed, double-spaced paper telling why you are interested in an aviation career and where you see yourself in the aviation field after graduation.
  2. The application must be accompanied by an official copy of the most recent transcriptfrom the applicant’s college or university.
  1. The applications must be accompanied by a letter of recommendation, from a member of the Aviation Department faculty at the institution in which the applicant is currently enrolled.
  1. The applicant must not have previously received the scholarship from MCOA.
  1. The applicant must complete all requested information on the scholarship application and sign the document.
  1. Applicant must submit their application so it arrives at the MCOA business office not later than March 1, 2015.
