4 December2013 Committee Meeting

Present: John Moore, Ellen Egan, Michael Lucey, Stephanie Reisgies, Jack Daniels, Theresa Turco, Bernie Sheehan

Absent: KiraKruglikova, Peter Meyers, Shona Fullerton, John Sender

The committee held a wrap-up discussion of the Pinewood Derby and determined the following:

  • It was an overall success. 1170.00Chfs were raised for Room to Read.
  • Trophies will be awarded to the 3 fastest cars and the 3 best car designs.
  • Ribbons will be awarded for placement at the Den level.
  • Event Notes will be updated to include further comments on, though not limited to, the following:
  • Improved registration process and specific designation of tasks.
  • Handing out event badges at the finish of the registration process.
  • A better solution for the post registration-staging area.
  • A better location for the Webelos II Hall of Fame.
  • Longer preparation time with the race software.
  • The addition of fruits at the dessert table was successful and worth repeating in the future.
  • Saving the judges ballots.
  • Numbering the tables and drawing a map of the room was a significant time saver at the end of the day and well worth continuing in the future.
  • A rotation of craft activities.
  • Closing the used toy sale for a portion of the day to help focus the children on the races.

The committee discussed the Kanderstegski weekend preparation and determined the following:

  • The committee will print and hand out agendas outlining the weekend events at the check-in desk at Kandersteg.
  • There will be laminated agendas posted in public areas of the facility.
  • In an attempt to keep the children safe, we will post temporary signs reminding children to stay out of the river that runs between the old and new buildings.
  • Shona will make further announcements at the 13 December Pack meeting.
  • Final planning will take place during the next committee meeting.
  • An information session or an information email for newcomers to the Pack was briefly discussed.

The committee discussed the January Hockey Event and determined the following:

  • The December pack meeting will be the last opportunity to purchase tickets for the event.
  • Uniforms will not be required at this event.

The committee discussed the December Pack Meeting and determined the following:

  • This will be the last opportunity to purchase tickets for the January ice hockey event.
  • Payment for Kandersteg must be made by 15 December.
  • Webelos II will exhibit a recent activity and Den 14 will perform the flag ceremonies.
  • The guest speaker will directly follow the opening ceremony.
  • Theresa will email the pack and remind them about the guest speaker, the Bobcat ceremony, the Pinewood derby certificatesand the hockey tickets.

The committee discussed the Blue and Gold Dinner and determined the following:

  • Stephanie will secure the venue in Eysins for March 8th
  • The event will replace the scheduled Pack meeting for that weekend and we will not hold an additional Pack meeting in March.
  • Stephanie will contact John Sender to discuss the operation of the sound booth.
  • An announcement will be made at the December pack meeting about the change of date.
  • Donation requests will be updated and then posted by early January.
  • Final planning will take place during another Committee meeting.

Update on Dues: not discussed.

Other Business

  • The January Pack meeting will include the Webelos badge ceremony. Ellen will make sure the Pete has enough badges for every Webelos I scout.
  • John or Ellen will contact TAC and order about 40 Boys Life magazines each month to be handed out at the end of each Pack meeting, starting in January (or December if possible). This will be at a cost of about 12€ per month.
  • The need for an Assistant Cubmaster, a Pack Trainer and a Pack Outings Chair was briefly discussed. Volunteers are welcome to step forward.
  • The next Committee meeting is scheduled for 15 January 2014.
