About The Application Process

The application process for the Scotland Social Enterprise Awards is intended to be easy to follow. If you need any help with the application form or if you would like this application form in a different format please call us on0131 243 2650

The diagram below shows the sections you will need to complete.

Once you have completed your application you will need to email it to us at along with your accounts. You will also need to print off a copy and send it to us.

Section A – Application Eligibility Criteria
All organisations applying for an award must meet the following basic criteria.
Does your organisation trade primarily for social or environmental purposes? / Yes * / No
Do you hold assets within your company for the achievement of social purposes? / Yes / No
Do you earn at least 50% of your income through trading?Please note that trading can include government contracts and service level agreements as well as traditional trading routes. / Yes / No
Do you commit at least 50% of your profits towards meeting your social or environmental aims? / Yes / No
If you answered no to any of the above questions, please do not proceed to complete the application as unfortunately, you will not be eligible to enter the awards. Please do feel free to talk to us about what you can do to ensure that you can enter the awards next year.

Section B – About Your Social Enterprise
Use this section to tell us information about the social enterprise applying for the award

This should be your legal name (and might be different from your trading name)

This may be the same as date your social enterprise was set up.
Section C –Scotland Award Categories
There are several awards categories. Please tell us which one you would like to enter. If you would like to enter more than one category, we’d love to hear from you but you must complete a separate application form.

Category One –Scotland Social Enterprise Start Up of the Year
To be eligible for this award category you must have been a social enterprise for less than 24 months.
Winners of this award will be entered automatically for the UK awards in the same category. / Yes *

Category Two – ScotlandSocial Enterprise Leader of the Year
This award category is for an individual leader who must have been working for a social enterprise in a paid or voluntary capacity.
Winners of this award will be entered automatically for the UK awards in the same category. / Yes
If yes, please go to Section Fto complete the remainder of the application
Category Three – Scotland Young People’s Social Enterprise of the Year
To be eligible for this award category the social enterprise must be young person-led and managed social enterprise/business or project where all young people are up to 25 years old. There is no lower age limit.
Winners of this award will be entered automatically for the UK awards in the same category. / Yes

Category Four –ScotlandSocial Enterprise of the Year
Winners of this award will be entered automatically for the UK awards in the same category. / Yes
