About LISA,Inc.

LISA, Inc. is a private, 501c3 non-profit organization providing services to young people throughout the state of Connecticut for over 45 years.

Our service population is focused on adolescent girls and boysin foster care, who are survivors of abuse, neglect and human trafficking, from cities and towns throughout Connecticut. Services are located in Bristol, Plainville, and Waterbury. Most of our young people are age 14-21.

LISA, Inc. receives fundingon a fee-for-service basis fromthe State of Connecticut Department of Children and Familiesand grants from local organizations and businesses to coverthecost of providing shelter,food,clothing, and support services toourresidents. Itisonly through the generosityofour supporters and donors thatweare able to provideextracurricularactivities that improve the quality oflifeand meet the complex needsof the young people weserve.

Programs

Lisa’s Wish-Plainville

A Supportive Work, Education, and Transition program foryoung women, age 17-21.We provideasafe,stable8-bed program for girls aging out of foster care. Weekly opportunitiesforskilldevelopment, educationalsupport, and support in healing from trauma is the focus. Ourgirlshaveahistoryofabuse, neglect, human trafficking and haveexperienced multipleplacementsthroughouttheirlives. Lisa’s Wish intends to help them build a foundation for a great future.

S.A.I.L. Program, (SAIL)-Bristol

Transitional programforyoungadults workingtowardindependence, including expectant momsand parentingyouth.SAILoffersone andtwobedroomcondos and provides24/7 staffsupport. Thisprogramserves DCF-referredyoung adults who require support as they makethetransitiontoadulthood. Ouryoutharesupportedas theyattend school,enrollinvocationalprogramsorhigher education,and/or explorejobopportunities.

CBLS-Waterbury

Anon-residential, community-basedprogramforyouthwhoare 14-18 and resideinthe greaterWaterbury area.Weprovidemeaningfullifeskillsforyouthinfostercare throughgroup and individualizedsessions.

Youth Excellence Program

A program for adolescent boys ages 13-15 who are in foster or congregate care who partake in 2 half-day workshops per month leading up to a weeklong trip to Channel Islands NationalPark in CA. The mission is to empower youth who have endured significant life challenges to experience success, navigate life obstacles and emerge as adults.
