WISER SCIENCE: Finding References

Compendex EI for Engineering& Computing

About Compendex EI database

Content:Compendex EI is the main bibliographic database of international research in the field of engineering. Subject coverage includes control engineering, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, materials, applied physics, electronics and communications, petroleum, aerospace and automotive engineering, nuclear technology, bioengineering, transportation, chemical and process engineering, light and optical technology, agricultural engineering and food technology, computers and data processing.

The database contains articles published in scientific journals, conference proceedings, books, technical reports, and dissertations. Content from about 5000 engineering journals, conference proceedings, books, and reports is indexed and added to the databaseeach year. The database includes content from 1969-to date and is updated weekly.

CompendexEi is used by researchers to find references of published research in their subject field. The database is available via EngineeringVillage platform, which allows searching by keyword, as well as browsing using subject Thesaurus and Controlled Vocabulary. The indexes include Author, Author Affiliation, Controlled term, Serial title and Publisher information in alphabetical order.

Access: Compendex is available freely via OxfordUniversity network without using a password. However, to access databases remotely, you need Athens password. To register for Athens password and VPN access visit Oxford University Computing Service Internet site
